Koto Hibachi Express & Sushi

We came here to have hibachi for a celebration of graduations. Our group includes 3 young kids and 8 adults. We were able to be seated immediately. This restaurant requires you to order first, and you’re assigned a buzzer. You go and pick up your food and bring it to your table. They’re pretty hands off in the restaurant. It’s very much like a Chipotle or Panera Bread, but for Japanese food. They aren’t very flexible with requests and cannot give you a lot of detailed help with decision-making on what to eat. So know before you go! There is no kids menu here.

Food has little favor.

Wanted some sushi near the area, found Koto! Excellent choice. Clean and inviting atmosphere, great food

Purchased 2 meals and sushi for my family. The Broccoli was hard as rocks. The food made everyone in my household sick. Within an hour of eating we were all on the toilet. I called to complain about the broccoli. But I swear this place gave my family food poisoning. My son has an iron stomach he eats everything even he was puking and on the toilet. I saved the food and will take it back tomorrow for a refund. I will never patronize this place again. STAY AWAY FROM THIS!!!

This restaurant was gross. The restrooms were disgusting. There was a hair in my salad. Returned it to the counter. Chicken was undercooked and had a weird texture. Super expensive food poisoning.

This is my go to place for sushi in Gainesville! Prices are great and the food hits everytime I go. Highly recommend.

I'm sorry to say but there was a fish bone in my sushi

I really like this place! It's very casual in a good way. The restaurant was clean and the food was prepared fast and the portions are very generous.

I ordered a bento box for dine in at 8:15, sat down, and my whole party got their food except me. They forgot to give me my order and 3 people had to go up and complain. We go up after 50 minutes because my whole party is finishing their food and they just say “it’s not ready”. i got my food at 9:30 when they closed and my entire party was leaving. when i went up to grab my food he did not apologize or anything. now 4/8 people in my party are experiencing severe stomach pain. would not go back.

Driving from Florida, back home to Michigan. Stopped in to Koto. Located in Gainesville, very cool concept. Great vibe! The food was fresh made to order. Love the flavor, fresh ingredients! My Wife and I both had the Hibachi Lunch specials. I had steak my wife shrimp. Both were great made the drive more tolerable!

Quick and easy ordering process, wait time was barely there at 2:56 on a Sunday. FOOD was awesome. I’ve tried lots of seaweed salad and this place is by far my favorite.

Great gem with great food and very reasonable prices. Even my very picky son loves the Teriyaki Chicken!

This has always been our go-to spot for sushi, but I was disappointed by how stingy they were with the condiments. When I ordered their largest sushi tray, they only provided two sauces. On top of that, the staff member I spoke with was extremely rude and lacked basic customer service skills. They get ruder each time and they have raised their prices. $90 sushi and only 2 free sauces!!!
