My go-to sushi restaurant in Gainesville! The service is excellent, the space is clean, and the seafood is typically flavorful and fresh. Great prices for good quality food and portions. I normally eat inside the restaurant, and I am in and out in about 30-45 minutes. Highly recommend.

3-14-24 - I had hibachi salmon served with fried rice, noodles, sauteed veggies, miso soup, and a ginger-dressed side salad. Everything was good. Service was fast, efficient, and very sweet. Nice, relaxing atmosphere. Will come back for sushi.

My husband and I treated our adult granddaughter, who was visiting on her college spring break, to a sushi meal. We decided to try Mahzu Sushi & Grill in Gainesville. The reviews seemed good and the pictures looked good. Let me tell you it was worth the 35 minute drive to get there. The staff were all very friendly, the place was very clean and pleasant and the food was FANTASTIC!! All three of us were very happy with our choices. We had a great appetizer, and shared various sushi rolls (if we had to pick a favorite it would be the Williston Roll, or maybe the special volcano roll or maybe the snow crab roll…. Heck we loved them all). AND I had a very good hibachi chicken meal. We highly recommend Mahzu. We will definitely be going back there.

It was all good, I just wish they'd offer another salad dressing option. I really don't care for that ginger-whatever it is. My chicken tempura was great as always, though. Service was good and friendly.

I often have lunch at Mahzu Sushi. . Their chicken hibachi is delicious. My work had some visitors from South Korea, I recommended Mahzu Sushi to them. When they returned they said it was very good and authentic. They recently updated the restaurant and the decor is nice. The staff are friendly and attentive.

First visit here, but it won't be the last. We both ordered the lunch specials...my husband got the 3 roll sushi plate, & I got the teriyaki chicken plate. I also ordered a seaweed salad. The salad was delicious & very fresh! Our food came quickly & was not only wonderful, but generous portions! Service was awesome...very friendly & attentive! We thoroughly enjoyed this experience & will definitely return soon!

My wife and I stopped here based on other reviews. When we walked in I was immediately concerned because it felt like the heat was on or the a/c was broken...and heat with raw fish seems sketchy. So, we tried the lunch special two roll combo and got an eel and avocado roll and a tuna roll to test the quality. The rolls were average but still tasty and the fish wasn't fishy smelling or tasting, so we tried the Dreamy specialty roll. It was average also. The two rolls took about 10 maybe 15 minutes to get and the one specialty roll took about 5, we were very surprised at how fast the specialty roll came out. My wife enjoyed the clear soup we got with the roll combo. Server kept coming by our table checking on us. Music was a little loud and they changed genres halfway through the time we were there (which was only 30 minutes).

Stopped by here on our east to west coast road trip. It is a “safe” choice if you’re looking for some roadside sushi. The food was fresh and tasty and certainly hit the spot, but the portions were on the small side… the soup, salad and the rolls were petite. I ordered hot green tea and it wasn’t brought in a traditional iron tea pot as I’m used to in other sushi restaurants, but instead it was in a small melamine cup. Service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was what you would expect from a middle of nowhere strip mall restaurant.

Hands down my favorite sushi place in Gainesville! Location is more secluded, so every time I have been, there has not been much traffic. :( The workers are extremely attentive and caring. Their food is AMAZING. And the best part is their prices. They have rolls starting from $7, and they still taste and look phenomenal. I recommend to go during lunch time as they have a $14.50 special for three rolls. The Jaguar roll is not included in this special but it is my favorite roll from Mahzu!

The atmosphere was quiet and calm, and for a Saturday afternoon it wasn't crowded at all. Service was very quick and we ordered and received our food within 15 minutes. The sushi was fresh and high-quality, and the steak hibachi was excellently cooked and flavorful. The prices were also very reasonable. Overall I had no complains and this will definitely be my go-to sushi spot in the future.
