First off, almost all customers appear to take orders to go, so there are only ever a few cars in the parking lot. Don't be fooled by this. You'll be glad you stopped in. The interior is clean and basic. Exactly what you want in a restaurant that focuses on making great food.
This is a classic neighborhood fast food shop with a HUGE selection of dishes from seafood to Mediterranean to standard American fare.
5 stars is for the gyro platter. I had a gyro wrap and found myself gazing longingly at my dining companion's platter swirling with lettuce, tomatoes, etc. The gyro sandwich was very good. The meat is top quality and the pita is better than many Greek places I've eaten at. Unfortunately, the veggies were underrepresented on the sandwich so that the meat and pita gets a little dense. More lettuce, tomato, and onion would lighten the sandwich up and strike a perfect balance. For me, the decision is simple: I'll get the platter any time I come in.
Excellent quality pita. Great flavor with a hearty body without being tough or chewy.
The tzatkiki sauce was also top notch. I think it's made with sour cream (as opposed to yogurt), so the flavor is smooth rather than tangy. The generous amount of Mediterranean herbs complements the flavors of the gyro meat extremely well. I favor more garlic in tsatziki but there was more than enough flavor in the recipe to be rich and authentic.
Another reviewer mentioned that the fries have a seafood flavor. I love seafood, so that sounds delicious to me and I'll make a point of trying some next time I'm in. Am planning to try the fried shrimp and also the Philly cheese steak on subsequent visits.
The gyro platter is a bargain considering it comes with fries and a drink. Pricing for the gyro was average. This is a local Gainesville business, so get some delicious soul food and support local owner-operators.

Do you want soup with a side of raw shrimp pasta? The presentation looked amazing, but it felt like I was having soup, and the shrimp seemed raw, which made my stomach feel uneasy. The pasta itself didn’t taste good—it was very watered down. The Pepsi dispenser was not working; it was only dispensing dirty water with no syrup. I also had the cheese fries, which were okay, but someone was fixing the area, making it very unpleasant to dine in. I feel like they should have limited service to delivery or carry-out only that day. I was really excited to try this based on the reviews but ended up disappointed and with an upset stomach.

I literally did not want to order because of how rude and nasty the lady was taking our order liget blasting her garbage music on her phone while we were trying to ask her questions about the menu, soda machine was leaking water all over the floor, i suggest y'all find better help

Wasn’t feeling great, needed food stat and didn’t want chain fast food. I stumbled on Manhattan Gyros & Subs and was grateful they had a drive through. My chicken gyro sandwich came out fast, and was fresh, hot, and delicious. I’ll be back very soon!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The food was awesome and the inside was very clean, but the outside is a little sketchy, but don’t go by that. Very good food and friendly service.

The food was amazing and it was nice and quiet. I see now why it has a 4.9 rating. Do not let the outside fool you. It's sketchy and the area seems a bit out dated, but it's clean and the food totally makes up for it.

So we live right around the corner, so we eat here kind of on the regular. I used to frequent another spot for fish, won't name it out of respect. First time I tried Manhatten, I had no idea what to expect, when I ordered fish. Afterall, it's a Gyros and Subs restaurant, right... Well I ordered the fish combo, catfish, comes with two nice size pieces of fish, and about 16 med. size shrimp, fries, and hush puppies. We order drive thru. Every time I have been in I haven't realized untIl I get home, there's no cole slaw. I never remember when I order again. So today... 10/14/24 around 1:30p.m. I went thru the drive thru. I ordered my regular fish, and the Gyro Combo for my daughter, no onions, no lettuce. As he was handing me the bag I say hush puppies and cole slaw, he questions me, I say with the fish, he says the combo comes with hush puppies, no cole slaw. So I say I want to order a cole slaw, he says no problem, I got you. I took out my bank card to pay, but when he comes back with my cole slaw, he says "no, I got you, it's on me." He literally meant, "I got you." And as always my food was amazing. The fries, hush puppies, fish and shrimp are so good, and their cole slaw is the best. I am very picky about cole slaw, my Daddy made the best. KFC makes pretty good cole slaw, I don't really like Publix cole slaw, but this cole slaw was off the chain. I have never had a bad experience at Manhatten Gyros and Subs, and the food has always been great. By the way, they have some amazing cake. You have to go by and try them. They're onext to The 700 car lot, on the corner of Main Street NE and 23rd. Ave NE.
