I've been here a couple of times.. honestly, the atmosphere is rather unwelcoming or neutral. It seems like a popular student hangout, but I haven't been a student for some time so I don't really find the atmosphere appealing. I think the seating is rather cozy although somewhat noticeably limited when ordering food, there are these implicit rules of when they're serving. What dishes? And you wouldn't really know that unless you were a frequent customer....

It’s okay I guess. The inside can be a good spot to study and the outdoor seating is cute. But the coffee and hot chocolate were mid. Hot chocolate was $7 and tasted like milk and a tiny dash of Swiss Miss powder.

Maude's is my wife's favorite sit-down place for coffee in Gainesville. She loves the European vibe (they have nice outdoor seating and also serve in ceramic cups) and the fact that they serve a dark roast espresso (not really the norm in the US). The service here has improved over the years. It's right next to the Hippodrome. Atmospheric outdoor seating.
