I was really excited to try the food but was a bit let down. The atmosphere is perfect, inside/ outside seating is wonderful on a good day.
I got tacos (chicken/beef) but was disappointed that they put raisins in their ground beef, my Cuban family did too and I really never loved it, wish that was stated on the menu. The chicken was bland, not much flavor in any of the tacos except the really nice aioli, however, the small sprinkle on top wasn't nearly enough to cover the whole taco flavor. So, I asked for a little more and was told it would be a $1 more ( for each flavor if aioli). I passed. For $18 I expected bunch much better.

Looooveee this place. The reward / point system is actually really good. Best pork, queso, and maduros in Gainesville. I really recommend the bowls :)

We went last night and waited an hour for our food. The staff told us we were up next and they gave three more people our order before us. I asked for a refund bc at this point my wife was starving. They finally gave us our food and my salad was missing the chicken. Then they gave me pork instead of chicken. Food was mid at best, not worth all that hassle. Not going back again

I was a regular at munecas until now. The female owner of this establishment (I say female because her husband Art has been extremely kind) who has been rude on multiple occasions, told me to leave the restaurant and sit outside while its 50 degrees and raining. I had just purchased food like I have regularly and she let us know we have to sit outside if there was “outside food” regardless of me being a patron. My boyfriend had food from a neighboring business at 4th ave. I can understand if I was not a customer and was taking up space without supporting her business but I am and was a regular at that. I’ll be taking my business to the other establishments on 4th ave moving forward since they think it’s okay to kick people out.

It’s my go to for Moqueca. Absolutely amazing Brazilian Fish Stew (you can add other proteins too!). I have Alpha Gal Syndrome (mammalian red meat/dairy allergy) and this is one dish I really get to enjoy!

Great shrimp burrito and margaritas.

Update: service has really gone downhill. Staff ignores you. The setup to order drinks at the bar separate from the food is clumsy. Needs work to get back on track.

This is my second time here. Both times I’ve had quality food and drinks. Today the guacamole was great, as was the sangria. The quesadilla was definitely above average although the cheese they use is not my personal favorite. The star is very courteous and service is fast for a joint that handles both to go orders and dining in. The place is comfortable with soundtrack full of classics. Muñecas is a notch above other Mexican favorites in Gainesville and it contributes very nicely to the 4th avenue food park experience.

Latinos beware. Not a traditional place. Not a lot of seasoning. Weird menu variety. No hot sauces at all and tacos are starting at $5? It’s definitely not for mi gente. I think my biggest gripe was the pickled onions in my burrito. It made it super sweet and i couldn’t taste the picadillo.

This restaurant might be the thing I miss most about Gainesville. As a junior at UF, I have been going here for nearly three years and have recommended this place to everyone in my sight. I have tried everything on the menu. All of the food is fresh and feels clean/not greasy at all.

I think Munecas sets itself apart with the quality/texture of their meats, the flavor of their sauces (yum yum is my fav), and the good feeling after eating. I have never felt heavy or sluggish after these meals, unlike many other Mexican/Latin restaurants I’ve tried.

My go tos are the chicken burrito or the chicken bowl. Something about the pulled chicken here is unmatched. It’s soft, flavorful, and never dry. The nachos, salty and extremely rich, are incredible for game day and drinks. The moqueqa bowl is so good every once in a while, especially on cold nights. Its coconut curry is so rich and flavorful, and complimented by fresh veggies and herbs. I recommend choosing the local fish, and going up higher than normal on the spice. The fish wok tacos are immaculate, and 3 is definitely filling enough. The quesadillas are a bit heavier, but have a deluxe blend of cheese and veggies, and mix so well with the pulled chicken. The tortillas for the burritos and quesadillas are always grilled a bit, so they have the perfect crunch to softness ratio.

I think it’s absolutely worth the price. While some meals are pricier, the very filling 11 dollar chicken burrito makes this a cost efficient option.

I grew up on the west coast (az/cali), with a ton of Mexican food. This place is top tier, and everyone I know agrees.
