Food quality was very good as was the selection variety and service. Only issue we had was that we made the reservation on Open Table, but the restaurant said they did not use Open Table. They were able to take care of us anyway and did a great job.
I love the place, the food, the staff! It is a perfect way to Enjoy with friends, or family
amazing sushi something unexpected in a smaller town. We originally found due to a cancellation dinner in downtown Gainesville. We love the area, but it's located and the service is great.
I made reservations for 14 last week for an inside table. My reservation was accepted and I received a confirmation. When we arrived, they had a table set up out in the hot sun for us and said that's all they had. They added they already had a large party inside and they could not accommodate us. The hostess went on to say she tried to get in touch with me the day before, but said she didn't have a phone number. This was wrong, as my number is clearly listed on my Open Table account. I called Brick Road just down the block and they accommodated us and took great care of us! What a great night at Brick Road. We won't be going back to Volcanic Sushi!
Made the reservation but when arriving, it was so crowded that we had to wait. The bar was open so we decided to sit there and watch the chefs prepare the sushi. We started with the appetizer sampler which consisted of 2pcs. Spring roll, 2pcs. Gyoza and 2pcs. Crab Rangoon. Wonderful combination!! For our entrees, my husband ordered the MISO ROLL which consisted of Tuna, cucumber, avocado topped with spicy salmon tartare mix with jalapeño. A bit hot but he loved it! I ordered Sashimi appetizer with extra pieces of tuna. Each piece was wonderful. Nice and cold!! All in all, the experience was perfect. Will be back soon!
Small indoor area was extremely noisy so we braved the heat to eat outside. Outdoor area ambience wasn't that nice unfortunately. But food was great!
I was not happy with the seating arrangements and the hostess did not make any attempts to put us somewhere else. Somebody other than her ended up feeding us to a other spot that was not so hot. The food was OK. The server was good. Wine list is awful. I don't think we will be coming back.
We had a wonderful sushi lunch here! Very fresh and the waitress was fantastic! We will definitely go back when we are in the area.
It was honestly amazing. The table was ready and set for us and the food was truly beyond amazing to wrap it all up. Honestly the nicest way I could have spent my graduation celebration!
Mid afternoon meal meal before 7pm graduation commencement. Six people, four ages 18-23, mom 52, and grandmother 77. We ate outside and the weather was perfect. The service was prompt and the sushi was delectable and tightly rolled. My kids are picky about sushi and my graduate daughter said that all she could think about during the commencement ceremony was getting back to the hotel for her sushi leftovers. That's pretty high praise. I would go out of my way to visit again if we're in Gainesville.

Never had an order ready on time where you can just walk in and pick it up.

I had tried the location at hunters crossing and the food was always pretty good and fast service , this location was definitely not the same. It was very cold the night me and a group (with a 3 year old) went to eat there and we kept asking for the heaters to be turned on since we had to sit outside because we also had a dog. They kept forgetting and ended yo turning one on another table so we had to switch tables . Then the waitress kept forgetting or getting our orders wrong, they ran out of ingredients so had to change the food we ordered. It took 2 hours and everything came out at different times. Just a mess overall with mediocre food, the waitress was nice but she seemed very lost. Definitely not trying this one again.

Excellent food and excellent service. Very fresh food. We sat outside and the noise level was perfect for intimate conversation on the patio. we look forward to visiting again.
If you have money to burn and a small appetite, I can wholeheartedly recommend Volcanic Sushi in the Haile Village.
❌ One (1) piece of eel sushi a la carte: $7.
❌ Shrimp tempura appetizer: $14.
👌 Takoyaki (Japanese snack consisting of ball of wheat flour batter cooked in a special pan and typically filled with octopus, pickled ginger, tempura scraps, and green onion): $10
👌 Half sized takeout soup container of Tom Kha Gai soup: $9
Order was accurate and ready upon my arrival.
Eel sushi was not worth it. A roll, maybe, but not a singleton with a thin, lonely sliver of eel (nickel for scale), regardless of whether fresh rather than frozen.
Shrimp tempura was outrageous, small sized and just like something straight from a convenient Asian market or even supermarket freezer case.
Takoyaki had a few tiny morsels of octopus lurking within and was reasonably good, despite the mere four (4) sub ping pong ball sized pieces.
Highlight was the soup, which struck me as made in house fresh and with pleasant mouth feel and a nice mixture of sweet and savory which meshed well and did not overpower either way.
Other area Asian places have a more reasonable price for portion structure, and while hype is a thing which I totally get, I think the folks who live in the relatively pricey subdivisions surrounding Haile Village are a bit of a captive audience and being served as such.
Parking: Curbside parking in the Haile Village.
