Lunch special at \rThe Yearling Restaurant included fried catfish flaky but the hush puppies came out doughy \rinside. Old Florida vibe with creaky floors and locals chatting over iced tea though parking \rfilled up quick with weekend visitors from Gainesville.
We are repeat customers who love the location, the Old Florida Fish Camp vibe, the food, the wait staff and the eclectic menu with local favorites hard to find anywhere else... but friends, you cannot charge $9 for a small piece of pie and expect diners to hurry back for more. Figuring 8 small pieces per pie, you are dishing up $72 pies. Although we've lived in Florida for 40 years we've never stopped at The Yearling for a meal. Well, it was very nice. interesting place just down the road from Majorie Rawlings house. Many decorations appropriate for the times. Very good service and an impressive menu with unusual choices such as Gator, frogs legs prime rib meat of pork and others. for lunch I had the pork and my spouse had a highly recommended Berger. Both were very good.
