This eatery is a unique gem of downtown Hollywood. I don’t even know where else you could possibly go for Indonesian cuisine but I wouldn’t possibly think of going anywhere else with the foods and flavors offered here locally. I have tried 80% of the menu and have throughly enjoyed everything. My favorites are the Bala Bala, Rijstaafel and Sepat but you can’t go wrong. I just wish they had more drink options.

Best dining experience we have had in YEARS. The dinner for two is not just a meal but a whole experience we highly recommend. Every bite especially the chicken satay in the sauce was a burst of flavours, tangy, sweet, savoury, all at the same time..unreal..Our server was super attentive, helpful, extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel so welcome.

Had to try the local Indonesian place with all the reviews and lived up to them. Can’t remember the names of the dishes but went with a lamb dish and a seafood dish. Can’t speak to the authenticity but we’re all flavorful. The sauces they gave on the side were excellent and the service was fantastic. Will be back to try more. Thank you ?

If you like Thai and/or Indian food, but haven't tried Indonesian food, you should absolutely visit Krakatoa! I have been coming here for years, and every dish I've had the pleasure of trying (which at this point is nearly everything on the menu) has been delicious. Chef Abe is a master at creating unique flavor profiles that surprise and delight. What truly sets this restaurant apart, however, is the unparalleled level of service. The staff is friendly and attentive, always on-hand to offer recommendations and insights into the dishes. Their professionalism and genuine care for guests make every meal a memorable occasion. The owners Chef Abe and John deserve a special mention. Their passion for food and hospitality shines through in every aspect of the restaurant. They frequently engage with guests, sharing stories behind their culinary creations and the restaurant's journey. It's clear they not only love what they do but also value their customers deeply. My Top 5 Favorite Dishes: Tahu Isi (appetizer), Rijstaffel with Rendang Sapi (great for sharing), Singang, Balado, OporTip: If you like spicy food, make sure to order the house-made sambals (green and red)!

What a wonderful little restaurant in Hollywood. The food is delicious and different from the other oriental restaurants, and served in an elegant and original style. Service was great. I had Opor with chicken, my first Indonesian cuisine, delicious!

Four of us sat outside (as requested). Reservation was honored on time. (and on a Saturday night). Service and food were just outstanding. Many good options on the menu and the chef willing to customize (leave out certain things). Food was delivered at the right temperature and in good time. We will definitely go back and I highly encourage others to do the same. Unfortunately no Indonesian beers are available but there is a good selection of American and some imported beers. Decent wine list as well.

The restaurant ambience is average , very small, you can touch the other table and also hear your neighbors conversation. The Chicken Satay and Nasi Goreng were great but the Rendang Sapi was really disappointing. It lacked spice and flavour, was too bland . Prices for the ambience and service were on the high side but for Miami it may be OK - this is not white table cloth .. So in summary , the food is a hit or miss and if you are not familiar with Indonesian cuisine you may like it

The food was really good. The servers were friendly and helpful. It's a nice quaint spot. The corn Fritters are a must try.

I was really looking forward to this dining experience with my friend for Valentine's Day. However when we arrived it took 25 minutes and we still had not received champagne glasses for our bottle of champagne. We noticed the restaurant across the street when the waiter was taking orders at other tables that came after us we asked again for champagne glasses and still no glasses came. So we decided to go across the street and had a wonderful evening and an Irish pub. Very disappointing and I don't think I'll go back to give it another chance.
