“I am deeply disappointed by my recent experience with Pollo. I purchased the cheesy yuca bites, only to find plastic inside the food. This is not just an inconvenience – it is a serious safety issue, especially when it involves a potential choking hazard for my 3-year-old child. My husband, an officer, and I, as a future doctor, know how detrimental this could have been to our family’s health.
Simply refunding my $5 is not enough. As a business, you should care about the food you serve, the safety of your customers, and take pride in your work. I am appalled by the lack of genuine concern or accountability from your team. Refunds are not a substitute for addressing a potentially dangerous situation. It’s about more than money – it’s about trust, safety, and integrity.
I will be seeking legal counsel and intend to bring this to public attention. With over 800,000 followers on Instagram, I will be sharing my experience, so others are aware of the potential risks in your establishment. I would have preferred to hear that you plan to take corrective actions, not just offer a refund.
In a world where the quality and safety of food are paramount, this experience has left me deeply concerned. I will not be returning to Pollo, and I urge others to reconsider as well. I now fear that my family may have unknowingly ingested plastic, and I may need to go to the hospital for an evaluation. This is beyond disappointing – it’s unacceptable. I was, in that place, I ordered 2 combos. They took a long time. I only requested and paid, the order was never delivered to me. And since I'm working, I had to retire. I didn't consume, I left the bill for 23.52. I have tried to communicate, but they do not answer the calls.
It is the worst place I have ever visited. I don't know what happened, I've been to other tropical ones and they were fine. But this, very bad service.

On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, me and my husband stop to nearby to get chicken from Pollo Tropical. I stay inside the car while I let my husband go inside to get a veterans meal for veteran Tuesday . We have traveled before to this pollo because it’s in our local area. It would make sense for a pollo worker to recognize we visit that location often, especially a manager. The person who served us inside was specifically the general manager- Akielah Campbell and she gave us a smart remark saying “You guys come more often on Veterans Day for the meal” on a busy afternoon with a full store. This statement was so embarrassing and misunderstanding me and my husband had to speak about it in the car. Yes we come often on veteran Tuesday because he is a veteran that served the country for a long time. I also see this manager has an issue of knowing the right thing to say to people, this can’t happen for long or I won’t be looking forward to this location.
