3/9/25—My first night at this amazing house—GUYS, I am floored! Who owns this place? Because they have definitely been blessed by Jesus himself. One day, I need to afford not just one but many houses like this. This has to be at least a $2 million house. But anyway…
Let’s get to the real crisis at hand: my husband’s coffee addiction. He’s basically a coffee narcissist—picky, dramatic, and completely incapable of functioning without a high-quality cup. So my first mission of the day? Find a place that serves coffee early in the morning.
I Googled, and a gas station café popped up. Reviews? Terrible. Service? Questionable. Vibes? Unclear. But I thought, why not? So I started my journey, walking in the morning heat, jamming to Michael Jackson, feeling the ocean breeze on one side and the Everglades air on the other. It was a moment.
About ten minutes into my walk, I spotted the gas station I had seen yesterday. Then, I noticed a sign: "Cuban Something." Oh boy. I had already read on Google that this place was awful, but I was already there, so… I took a deep breath and went in.
I did a quick scan—sized up the employees, checked for hot food (none, just pre-packed to-go items), and finally decided to try their coffee. I ordered one beef empanada and two croquetas de jamón because, you know, when in Miami… but in Key West !😂
María took my order, and another lady made the coffee. No "good morning," no smiles, but listen—this is not a five-star restaurant. Nobody is working for tips. It’s a get-your-essentials-and-go type of place. Honestly, I respect that.
Now, let’s talk about the Spanish situation. I love practicing my Spanish, but for some reason, when I speak it here, locals think I sound Mexican. Back in my home state? They swear I sound Colombian. My accent is apparently a mystery.
Would I recommend this place? If you want quick, no-nonsense Cuban coffee and snacks, yes. If you expect customer service that will hold your hand and whisper sweet nothings into your ear? Absolutely not.
Oh, and the bathroom? Didn’t see one. But I can guess why they don’t offer it freely to travelers. If you really need to use it, just offer some money—cash makes the world go 'round, and let’s be real, you’ll probably leave it cleaner than you found it.
Also to the side of the establishment there is a seating area . Treat the birds with respect
Final verdict? It’s a gas station kind of place . This should tell all , but it’s a gas station with Cuban coffee next door . That’s good enough for me.

Worst place ever! The cashier lady is very rude and she pushed me out of the bathroom line, saying she has to go first because she works there. I’m a cancer patient and due to my treatment I needed to go. Racist also, she asked us where we were from. Terrible place!!!

Great coffee, we are breakfast in and go to a few muffins to go, so good!!! I had the Mediterranean omelette which was loaded with veggies - amazing. I could eat here every day of my trip!
Driving, driving, driving behind a big truck. "How much further back to airport?" THEN I SAW THE SIGN. "Halfway Cafe". Cute. Turned around. What a find! Very nice workers. Clean, friendly, inside. Unexpected. Breakfast was plentiful and fast. Ordered at counter. Waited a few minutes for a table. Very relaxed drive back to airport until we hit the confusing freeways. Go to this little treasure cafe.
Wow! That is what I have to say. The Brie Breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious. I ordered because of the waitress recommendation. We are going back to get something else. The pastries in the case looked delicious. I would’ve tried but I was already using all my calories on key lime pies.
Stopped at this nice roadside cafe on drive from Key Largo to Key West. Very friendly. Had coffee and key lime pie both were good. We will be stopping on the return journey.
Quaint and creative venue. Expansive food, pastry and coffee/espresso offerings. Amanda is a wonderful barista and manager. Even took time to chat with us about my special request cappuccino and the roaster they utilize (A&E in New Hampshire). Best cappuccino ever! Chocolate croissant was scrumptious. Great value and memorable breakfast. Attentive and pleasant staff.

Aptly named as the halfway point to Kew West, this quaint little spot offers delicious breakfast and lunch choices as well as baked goods. There is a little gift shop as well. They have a great system order inside then choose your seat in or out and they will bring the food to you. Very attentive staff. Just watch out for the iguanas in the trees!
Best biscuits and gravy in Florida!!! Great staff super friendly and attentive. Really awesome food. You can tell everything was made from scratch.
Just ok. Called to place order, and no one answered the phone. Walked over from my room, and there was only 1 other customer. Definitely not too busy to answer the call. Food was decent - not a wow for the price. Couldn’t even tell I had cheese on the breakfast sandwich. Ordered coffee at counter and had to walk outside for cream and sugar. What a pain that was.
Such a cute warm place and the staff was very friendly. I ordered the Green Eggs Sandwich and it was delish. My kids were happy with the kids breakfast as well. This was my favorite breakfast spot during our Keys vacation. Probably would’ve gone more than once if we discovered it sooner!
July 2020: COVID really is screwing with the mojo everywhere, and even though it hampers the true keys experience where people are super friendly, Midway Cafe still had their A game. Been down here many times, this was a first, and it didn’t disappoint. Lunch was fresh, tasted great, and didn’t last long. ? A+ 2023 Update: back here again and service is still awesome, staff is still friendly and food- breakfast this time- is still great.
