Islamorada Shrimp Shack

Stopped by Islamorada Shrimp Shack for takeout and tried the alligator bites and shrimp fritters. The alligator was a bit under-seasoned and definitely needed a dip in remoulade to bring it to life. The shrimp fritters, however, were on point—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and absolutely delicious. Bonus points for the wonderfully friendly staff, who made the stop a super pleasant one. They were also fast and got us back on the road in no time.

This place is amazing! I am obsessed with the shrimp fritters and cracked conch. You should try the shrimp fritters. Appetizers were shrimp fritters, cracked conch and calamari. Lunch courses: Cajun fried shrimp and shrimp and grits for my boyfriend. 10/10 on everything. We will for sure be back. Shout out to our waiter Reece.

The shrimp and grits were amazing, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. The blackened fish plate was exceptional as well, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Great food and a must-visit spot while in the area for a quite inside dinner.

The food is comparable to other restaurants in Marathon/Islamorada and, on average, nothing particularly outstanding. However, the customer service was below expectations. Based on multiple experiences and similar reviews, interactions at the front can be inconsistent, with some guests receiving unnecessary pushback while others do not. Given that this is a tourist destination, a higher standard of customer service would be expected.

Although the food was acceptable, the service was unacceptable. A staff member acted in a confrontational, Karen-like manner about our service animal and INTENTIONALLY wait until we made the payment and then pulled her face issuing a warning about future visits. “If I see your dog got close to our server I would ask you and your service dogs to leave next time.This was unnecessary, poorly handled, and overshadowed the entire experience. Potential customers should be aware. I would’ve given a 0 star if I could to this service.

Thank you for your response. For clarity, our dogs were calm, leashed, and seated on the ground for the entire meal. Our waitress greeted us, brought menus, and even praised our dogs; this was the only interaction regarding them, and no concerns were raised at any point during service.
After we had finished our meal and completed payment, a different staff member—who had not interacted with us at all—approached us at the door and spoke to us in a lecturing and confrontational manner, making inaccurate statements. Based on numerous similar experiences described in other Google reviews, this does not appear to be an isolated incident involving this individual.
If there were any policy concerns, they should have been clearly communicated before we were seated and began eating, not after the meal had concluded.

Great place. Obvious from staff interaction that a lot of locals go there. Food was terrific and the prices are reasonable. The best place I ate at in Islamorada. Service was exceptional. Seemed like a family place. Would definitely go back.

Very positive experience. Excellent food and service. Recommend Shrimp with Grits and Grilled Fish Piccata. Mahi Mahi was fresh. Kid friendly.

Has simple grilled cheese and crab bisque. That bisque had to be the most delicious thing I ever had. Staff was very friendly and helpful!!

Very overrated, we hade the cornch as appetizer, they were hard rubber and no taste. The shrimp basket (small portion) was better but far from 1lbs, pricey for 10-11 small shrimp! The young lady was nice

Delicious food! Grilled grouper was delicious. Aloha fish sandwich with sauce was really coconutty and delicious. Greatservice too.
