On our 2nd visit to Island Grill, we had the spicy salmon bowl, and mahi tacos. They were both good with nice flavor combinations and ingredients. The reason this place doesn’t get 5 stars, from us, is their special menu that they have around happy hour time. We had come a couple days earlier, excited to try their tuna nachos (which we saw on like 10 other menus throughout the trip, so although theirs are the original, it’s not the only place to order them). Only to find a special happy hour menu that was confusing and charged $15 extra for us to share the nachos. Seriously? It was just two of us and we should be able to choose how we eat. A $15 surcharge is ridiculous. I think that was my first time walking out of a restaurant. We didn’t even order because I didn’t feel like they deserved our money. The only reason we ended up back there another time was because friends brought us and really wanted to go. Atmosphere is important for us and the surcharge for sharing food with my husband did not feel like a welcoming or casual atmosphere.

I am in the to enjoy Key Largo and was told to check this restaurant. Sadly, it under performed is every area and when brought to the attention of management they could care less. Don't waste your time stopping here. I will not let this experience ruin the Keys. Although, they were very close. It is too bad because the restaurant in a nice location and the atmosphere was nice. I did notice that some customers were treated better than I was, I appreciates the nice young lady who waited on me when waiter disappeared until it was time to pay which he was very aggressive about.
