We stumbled upon Key Roots in Islamorada and couldn’t have been happier! Everything here is all-natural and made with care. I had the açaí bowl and it was absolutely excellent — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.
We brought the whole family, and everyone loved the atmosphere. Even better, they were open on the 4th of July, and we got the chance to meet the owner, Maria. She’s fantastic — incredibly sweet and welcoming. She shared the story of how she came to the Keys from Italy and built this little oasis. You can feel the heart and soul she’s poured into the place.
Highly recommend stopping by Key Roots if you’re in the area. We’ll definitely be back to visit Maria again on our next trip to the Keys!

We had 3 lovely smoothie bowls for breakfast. They were delicious and can tell the difference with quality organic ingredients. Expect a little bit of a wait because everything is made fresh. Maria is lovely and kind and the face of her business - making a wonderful impression. We will be back.

We stopped by for an açaí bowl and ended up leaving with full hearts! The bowl itself was absolutely delicious. It was fresh, vibrant, and nothing about it tasted processed. Every ingredient felt hand-picked and packed with flavor. It was easily one of the best açaí bowls we’ve ever had.
But what really stood out was the owner. She was so kind and welcoming, taking the time to talk with us, share her story, and explain the heart behind the business. We learned that this isn’t just a place to grab healthy food, it’s a nonprofit with a mission. Profits go toward supporting children with Down syndrome and other important causes, and you can feel that purpose in everything they do.
It’s rare to find a place where the food is this good and the heart behind it is even better. Can’t recommend it enough!

Absolutely love this little health food spot! The smoothie was one of the best I’ve ever had. The vegan wrap was really tasty. The kale chips and spicy dipping sauce were also amazing! I will be back each time I’m in the keys
Absolutely loved this place! The owner talked us through everything that she makes onsite - including how she filters the water to make it alkaline. Loved the ethos of the place, so glad we found it!

As someone who’s favorite food is acai, and as someone who has worked at an acai bowl shop, the acai bowl/smoothie bowl is officially the worst i’ve ever had. i can assure you there was no acai, and it was in fact only berries. In addition it was a melting mess and the presentation looked like dog food. Another note- don’t come here unless you want to drop your life savings. I added peanut butter to my bowl and got the tiniest drop ever for TWO dollars. I also broke my spoon while eating because it was such bad quality and when i asked if i could have a new spoon i was rudely denied and told a disposable spoon is $2! very very sad place… i was so excited because of the great reviews :(

Food is okay but overpriced. The juices are $13 to $15 for the small, and $40 for a ginger shot. The amount of toppings are small for the price, the bowl came out to $19, and it was one of the worst açaí bowls I’ve had to date. To top it off spoons are $2 each if you want an extra to share with someone! Would not recommend to anyone.
