Katrina saved the day!! After waiting over 30 minutes to be acknowledged - we found Katrina who, although wasn't mapped to our table, stepped in and made the whole evening! Without Katrina - this place is frustratingly slow with an almost hostile attitude toward assisting patrons... I mean - at all.... the scowling faces were as impressive as they were unhelpful. However - if you can get access to it- the food is great and we absolutely credit Katrina for what ended up to be a terrific nye dinner.

Food was good, but the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. Restaurant sits in a strange repurposed room upstairs that in no way reflects the theme or cuisine. Service was appalling. Seemed to be plenty of staff but waiter was remarkably inattentive. After we were seated, it was at least 20 minutes until he came over to take a drink order, then disappeared for a while again. Food came promptly, but had to frequently ask for water refills- a challenge when the waitstaff is nowhere to be found. Would not return.

Me and my family waited over an hour for miso soup, which I feel is not quiet right considering the restraunt was not overly packed. We were sat outside and there were rats on the deck walking around. The space heaters were broken. The night I went was very cold and the space heaters were broken so we were waiting outside in the cold for an hour before we got our soup.
To make up for the wait & cold, food was amazing. I think it is the best sushi I've ever had. It was very good. Our waitress was very apologetic and made up for earlier sub par service.

We were looking forward to returning but the experience was unpleasant. While the food continues to be good, the service was horrible, starting with the hostess and manager lying about there not being an outdoor table available for our 7:15pm reservation. Not only were there 2 tables available but by the time we left, all 6+ others were all available leading us to think they wanted to close the outdoor area early and not seat us there. Which is unfortunate bc it's lovely outside - weather, live music playing below etc. Then our waiter messed up my drink order, bringing me something with alcohol when I can't have it bc of medication, he forgot the Miso soups from the sushi for two even when asked about them, we had to keep asking for silverware, plates etc. Great food/ atmosphere but terrible manager and service.

If I'm being honest I wouldn't recommend the Matsuri roll, for the price it's not worth it. You get a small piece of beef on top of a regular/plain roll. The lava roll was excellent.

This was our second meal at Nikai. The Sushi for 2 was good, although I think we missed some of the WOW factor from our first visit by not ordering some of their specialty rolls like we did the first time, It's beautiful to sit upstairs look out at the Atlantic and this night there was live music on the beach, which was a nice treat.
All the sushi, sashimi, and salads were excellent, but the sake they brought was so hot that we had to wait five minutes for it to cool down before we could pour it into glasses. I recommend visiting, but the prices are above average.

Did not have the best experience. Not staying at Cheeca this year, but wanted to do sushi here because of tradition. The service this year was horrible. Not even sure where things went wrong, but our server was terrible from the start of the meal to the end. He seemed to have forgotten we hadn't ordered dinner yet, then when dinner did come, everyone was given the wrong plates. We needed extra plates which never showed up and we were lucky to eventually get all our drinks for the six of us before the meal was over. My daughter wanted steak over rice and she was served eel over rice?!?!?! Just terrible. When we asked questions, the server didn't take any blame for the errors — he just kept saying it was coming, he just didn't have enough hands🤣 Definitely not worth the price we paid for dinner since my daughter never even ate. Will not be returning next year.

Beautiful view from upper deck tables. Inside is small but cute. Went during off season end of October so was not busy. Food was great. Got drinks and food. Worth a trip.
