The meat was dry, toast was one shade from being burnt, the fries tasted like they had been under a warmer for a while, the waitress seemed like she was really tired or intoxicated. This was the worst BBQ I have ever had. We left most of the food on our plates, paid the bill and left. Not sure if it was good in the past and it’s going downhill now but it was very disappointing.

They close at 9 but stop taking orders at 8. This location is also the worst in Jax quality wise. It's a shame they don't honor their own posted hours. This place is also stingy about drinks. I've seen them give a woman two free large sweet teas. But you try to get a kids meal for kids and they need to be present. Sexist bullshit.

Walked in today to have a quick 30 min lunch with my gf which is doable at literally every Bonos in town except for this one apparently. Got there just before noon. Waited until 1210 to get seated then immediately put in a drink and food order. Figured no big deal 20 min is still plenty of time. There are 5 tables total so obviously not busy. The guys behind the counter though have stood around for 10 min doing nothing so I think my food has been sitting around getting cold but at least it will be to me shortly. Then I see the tickets start to go through - 25 minutes after I arrived and almost 15 minutes after I gave my order my food is just now going through to the kitchen. Incredible. In an absolutely dead restaurant I couldn't get fries and brisket, or turkey sandwich with a side salad, in 30 min so I had to leave my card with the table to pay so I could make it back to my appointment.

This place reminds me of a nursing home with nursing home food. Brisket is always dry. My husbands yea had particles floating in it. My cup was also dirty on the outside with chunky cornmeal particles on it. The inside of the cup had black pieces stuck to it.

The barbecue pit master chef displays and provides a nice, large, and convenient meat display in a quaint, personalized setting. I enjoy their brisket, so I wish to visit again ordering a half pound. Also, I enjoy a combination mixture of half their original mild sauce and half their sweet and tangy sauce.
Their barbecue is perfectly complimented by cole slaw and some for the side, so I wish to order a pint. I wish for the slightly sweet, hydrated cole slaw. Their baked beans side is good, standard quality, so I wish to order a side size. The green beans are decent, so I wish to order a side size.
The garlic bread is really good and standard quality. I wish for medium thick, medium butter, medium combined seasoning, and medium golden crispy garlic bread. I wish to order one piece.
Lastly, I wish for paper or recyclable plastic and to purchase more from here through convenience.

This Bono's never fails to please! Marie did a great job serving us a tasty lunch with a perfect Arnold Palmer to wet my whistle. The ribs were excellent. No need for sauce and still tasty and juicy. I'll be back.

I usually go to bonos every Thursday it’s always good, today I ordered takeout and the blonde girl at the front was super sweet! A lot nicer than some of the others. She was helpful and attentive and personable!

🍽️ What I Ordered: Brisket with green beans and baked beans
💬 My Experience:
The moment you step out of your car, you’re greeted with that incredible smoky aroma, the kind that instantly makes you hungry. The building itself has that well-loved, been-here-for-years charm, and the inside has a rustic, old-school BBQ vibe. You can see the open pits working behind the counter with smoke rolling out, which really sets the tone.
My server was super friendly and welcoming. The brisket was lean, I personally prefer a little more fat, but it was still tender and flavorful. The green beans were so good I could have made a meal out of them alone.
🏆 Highlight: The unbeatable smoke smell and authentic BBQ atmosphere.
📍 Would I Return? Absolutely, next time I’ll be back to try the ribs.

Cook knowingly prepared my to-go dinner meal cold. Long day working, arrived at 830pm. Ate it in the car. Sandwich cold, beans cold. Green beans best thing eaten. Wendell next time I'm in the area I gotta see you sir.

I've been eating at Bono's BBQ since before I knew how to walk and talk. My dad used to come here after high school and sit at the bar talking with Harvey over a late after-school lunch. And with my almost 45 years of life in this city, I can't say I've ever had a bad experience here. I cannot recall a single time when the food was ever less than amazing. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories!
