This is probably the best bbq restaurant in Jacksonville. Great for someone with dietary restrictions as well. I always get a Turkey sandwich or a bbq pork plate.

Brisket was tough and hard to chew, slaw was bubbling and stew was thin and watery

Note: my reference is Texas brisket so it may be unfair, but I am pretty disappointed to have paid $40 for two carry out orders of 90% fat.

The turkey is good. The chicken is mostly dry. Good atmosphere so if you get brisket it may offset the poor quality of beef.

I've noticed a decline in service over the past year. Last night, my wife and I were in the drive-through for over 25 minutes, and there were only two cars ahead. I got out of the car to pick up our order on foot, but I had to wait an additional 10 minutes, only to be told, "I'll be with you in a minute." When we finally got our food and took it home, it was just okay. It probably would have been better had we dined in. There are way too many dining options in the area.

Love the BBQ! Consistently tasty with full portions. We ordered through drive-thru decided to sit inside to eat. We were welcomed and they offered drinks for our table.

Grew up in Jax and watched Lou Bono’s expand. Living away since 1978 I have always wanted to go straight to Lou Bono’s for my favorite bbq. Even friends visiting us out of State know how must we love the sauce and bring us some.
Unfortunately, we had to dine alone this time. I was SO disappointed…. everything tasted so different. You had a good crowd but my pork sandwich was SO DRY, you didn’t have any potato salad that was always to die for , and the coleslaw was boring and bland compared to what it used to be.
MY HEART was broken…. I’m thinking the man who started it would be disappointed too!
Sorry- I don’t usually say negative things-
but like I said- It has lost the original flavors and quality! Even the delightful banana pudding they once served - was just crummy.
