I decided to try this “Ecuadorian” restaurant. The people who work there don't speak Spanish, but it's supposed to be Ecuadorian, so someone should speak Spanish. The prices on the menu are out of date. The rice with lentils and meat (in Ecuador, this refers to all types of meat) costs $17, but here it's only chicken or pork. So I made the big mistake of ordering beef, and they charged me an extra $15 (there is no sign or notice indicating this surcharge), so the dish that costs $17 goes up to $30 (seriously), which I would say is MISLEADING ADVERTISING. They also don't have a children's menu. In the end, for two lentils with “meat” plus a serving of chicken, a serving of rice, and drinks, the bill was almost $90, when in other Latin restaurants it doesn't exceed $40. Anyway, if you want to eat real Ecuadorian food, this is NOT the place to go.

Went on a Sunday and tried the ceviche menu. Had the charred octopus, oysters and red fish. All were fantastic. Service was very friendly and hospitable. Definitely will try the normal menu.

I’m very disappointed with my experience here. The portions were extremely small considering how expensive the dishes are. As an Ecuadorian, I had a different expectation of the food and quality, but I left feeling completely let down. Sadly, I wouldn’t return or recommend this place.

Found this restaurant when dining with friends. The restaurant we had planned to go to was closed for a wedding rehearsal dinner. So glad we went here instead! Food was delicious, service was great. I can’t wait to go back!
Born and raised Ecuadorian here. I was very excited to try Chancho King, especially after reading the reviews. I will say it’s decent food, but VERY expensive for what it is. I only had the Seco de Pollo thinking you can’t go wrong with that, but I was very disappointed. It tasted “guardado,” meaning not fresh and with a different flavor and a thicker gravy than it’s supposed to have. Definitely not authentic unfortunately.
I would recommend this place if you want to try something different, but would not recommend if you’re looking for authentic Ecuadorian food and expecting freshly made plates at a hefty price.

If you visit Jacksonville on a weekend and don’t go to chancho king, you are missing out. Their regular menu is phenomenal, but Friday nights and Sundays are the real stars. “Late night” (every Friday evening) features a special menu that’s different every week. There is a DJ and lots of kind people, a great place to go if you are looking for a chill party with great food to start your weekend. Sundays feature a special menu filled with seafood. Chancho has the BEST CEVICHE IN JACKSONVILLE. And you can customize your ceviche! Sundays are also very family friendly. Jacksonville is so lucky to have this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and check it.
