My wife wanted brunch so we ended up here. It's Derby House Diner's grand reopening weekend. I ordered the crab omelette with hash browns and sides of bacon and sausage links. I asked if I can have the hash browns on a crispy side. Well, I got my plate and the sides of bacon and sausage links were on it. I thought I was getting those in little saucers. I guess less plates is better? And the hash browns were not crispy at all. It was mushy! I should have had gravy to put on it. The ladies at the front were nice and friendly, but our service was very slow. If we need something, we constantly have to get our server's attention. When paying by credit card, I usually take a snapshot of my receipt so I can see the total bill with tip since we have to write them in for comparison with my statement later. Our server added an extra tip after I've already given close to 20% even with slow service. Unbelievable!

This place is history. The inside changes but the call to preserve is heard and the outside is kept and we appreciate it. The newest workings are by a chef we know from the old loved Candy Apple. I attended my first visit after the new opening with 6 others and we ordered up the menu. It was happy hour and the well drinks were 5 Points style...affordable & stout..:) I ordered the Patty Melt with my side being the salad. The patty melt was scrumptious but that salad that looked just like lettuce and maybe some parsley was so good I cant wait to go back and get it again. I found the food to have flavor, just what you expect when there is a Chef in the back of the house. They offer brunch on the weekend and a blue plate special. Appetizers are half price during happy hour with the wells and deals on beer..so stop on over..

First visit since the reno. Nice diner vibe. Great breakfast. We'll be back, because the rest of the menu looked good, too (as did the food delivered to tables around us).

First time here, started with the smoked fish dip and the " deviled eggs " won't spoil the surprise on these..... They were awesome! Fish dip ehhhh, way to much capers and dill and very salty. I had the salmon entree, delicious! Hubby had a double hamburger and fries. I know I know, hamburger? When he took his first bite, Lol I thought his eyes were going to fall out of his head and the fries? Let's say, not your average fry. Service was out standing! We will be making it our go to spot for sure .

This newly remodeled and renamed restaurant has quickly become my go-to place especially on the weekends. It's walking distance for me which makes it a no-brainer. Classic diner food with some upscale options thrown in perfect for the Riverside location. Two of my favorite items lox and bagels, and the patty melt. Plus there's a burger that will knock your socks off. The back patio has totally been remodeled brighter, and larger, the perfect place to sit out on a nice day and partake in a few craft cocktails. Staff is great, friendly and informative. The new Derby House Diner has quickly become a locals favorite.

This long-standing establishment has a new face, and it is a good one!

Been twice so far. Food has been very good both times. And service has been excellent and attentive. I love the outside dining room. However, the restaurant is very stark and plain. Like eating in a hospital operating room. It needs style and decor. Back when this location was Derby on Park, it had a unique ambiance and fun vibe. That all been stripped out. :-( I will become a much more frequent customer if/when the outside gets a night life atmosphere.

Short and sweet review:) I absolutely loved our brunch at Derby. The service was great and the food was delicious. Good size portions and the price was quite reasonable. I will absolutely be back!

Solidly delicious brunch. Recently renovated, but still has that good basic brunch charm. For example, sometimes when you want biscuits and gravy, you don't want a gourmet twist to it where there are 10 extra unwanted flavors in it. At DHD, they do their biscuits and gravy in just the right way that it will hit the spot and you'll leave beyond satisfied. Shrimp and grits also delicious too, with caramelized onions and bacon pieces! The cocktail list is also intriguing with great drinks too. Adam (the bartender) is fantastic and can whip you up anything you want. I saw some shoe string fries walk around and I cannot wait to try them! Will have to come back for lunch/dinner menu, but brunch was a solid A rating.

Love, love, love the new Derby House Diner and am so happy to see this iconic space finally in the right hands!!! The renovations are bright, fresh and modern while still maintaining a classic diner vibe. The lunch and dinner menu offers something for everyone ranging from classic diner staples like a great burger, patty melt and other sandwiches to healthy options like the salmon, beyond burger and beyond meat bowl. My personal favorites are the fried green tomatoes, the pork chop, and the ancient grain salad with farro, quinoa, sweet potatoes, baby kale, blueberries and pistachios. It's delicious!!! The brunch menu is equally as impressive! If that's not enough to convince you to check it out, they have an awesome patio space, full bar with great cocktails, beer, and wine options, good music and the service is top notch! This place will definitely be in my regular rotation!

I was skeptical at first. But after sitting down and taking it all in...I do say it's a fine place to dine. Also, drinks for all the people; snobs, hippies, alcoholics, bros, lady types and even a sody-fountain for the tykes.
