I am disappointed. The reviews had me intrigued and excited because I absolutely LOVE authentic Mexican cuisine, but this experience was everything but that. The ribeye steak was completely lacking seasoning, which is surprising. No one checked on me to see how my meal was, and there's no excuse because I arrived soon after opening and there was no one there besides one other person. I was looking forward to having a restaurant nearby that serves great Mexican dishes, but this one isn't it.

A Mexican restaurant in North Florida. If you are in this region and you long for Mexican food, a highly recommended place. It has a la carte service and also has a Buffet. The service is first class, the hosts are very attentive and attentive. If you want spicy sauces you can ask for them.

We had such an amazing experience at this restaurant Annie Was one of the best waitresses that we have ever had she made us feel at home and she was very informative about the area. They have happy hour from 3 to 7 every day. Small margaritas are 399 large margaritas are 599. I would call the margarita a one hitter quitter.

This is in my opinion the absolute best Mexican food available. Prices are standard but portions are huge. Plus they have a taco buffet. My favorite is the El Potro burrito. I eat that thing for at 3 days by my self.

I recently visited El Potro Mexican Restaurant with high hopes after reading several glowing reviews. Unfortunately, my experience didn't live up to the hype.
First and foremost, the food felt extremely generic and lacked the authentic flavors typically associated with Mexican cuisine. It seemed like the dishes were tailored more for a mainstream palate.
The menu played it very safe, sticking to the most basic of options without venturing into more traditional or regional Mexican dishes. Even staple items like tacos and carnitas seemed watered down, missing the vibrant colors and rich taste profiles you expect from a genuine Mexican meal.
On the brighter side, the ambiance was pleasant and the staff were friendly and attentive. However, when it comes to the most crucial aspect—the food—El Potro falls short. It feels like "Mexican food for White people," lacking the boldness and authenticity that makes Mexican cuisine so beloved.
If you're looking for a safe, generic meal that doesn't push any boundaries, you might still enjoy El Potro. But if you’re craving an authentic Mexican food experience, you might want to look elsewhere.
