Wanted to go Saturday night but it closes at 6pm. Why would it close so early.

My friend told me about this nice spot on Main Street. So I went to yesterday for lunch with them to try it myself. Their sweet tea was really good. I ordered the pulled pork lunch special and added house salad and potato salad as my sides. The house salad was shredded lettuce instead of an actual salad. The potatoes were also diced. I've never had diced potatoes before, let alone in potato salad. So the texture was different than what I'm used to, but it still tasted really good. The pulled pork itself was delicious. I added their sweet BBQ sauce to it to make it less dry. Definitely a really good sauce. My friend ordered their pork sausage special with baked beans. There were only two people working when we got there. One at the counter and the other was serving everyone else. There weren't many people at first. But when we finished lunch, there were a few more people who showed up. They have some cute decorations around the restaurant also. I will definitely be back in the future to try other foods they have there.Parking: Parked behind dreamette and walked over.

In the way of BBQ, this place did not impress me. I had the brisket and could not identify it as having come off of a smoker. The greens were delicious and I'm going back for the hamburger. The atmosphere is great for an individual or an outing with friends. The staff were very welcoming and attentive.

What kind of restaurant closes at 6pm on a Friday night? I’ve eaten here in the past and the food is okay, but I just can’t believe you wouldn’t want to cash in on the Friday night dining out crowd!

This was my first time visiting the new location of Fred’s under the newish management of Melanie. My step-dad used to take our family to Fred Cotton’s when it was down near 20th St Expwy on Main. when I was a teenager. This restaurant has been a Jacksonville staple for decades and is one of the oldest in town. My husband got the beef brisket sandwich on Texas toast with fries. I opted for the friend shrimp with Mac n cheese and cole slaw, AYCE! The fried shrimp are local Mayport shrimp and were fried so deliciously. The slaw was more vinegar based instead of mayo and sweet, which isn’t my favorite, but was still good. My husband’s brisket sandwich was “the best brisket” he has had, straight from his mouth to my ears to this review. I can’t wait to go again! And the sweet tea was perfect! Our server was sweet and Melanie the owner was helping out all over and was very personable. Can’t wait for another date to Fred Cotten’s on Main! Also, 5 stars to my date for life, husband of 27 years this year, for always being down to try new and old places and being photographed with his food!

I was born and raised in Jacksonville but never visited Springfield because I always hated driving through downtown (I hate it even more now due to the zombie apocalypse that it's turning into) so I just found out about Fred Cotten's.A friend of mine told me the food was good but the portions were too small for the priceI decided to give them a shot anyway. My wife and I stopped by on a Friday night a couple weeks ago and ordered the 4 meat for 2 Combo. We chose ribs, beef, pork, and chicken. It came with three sides, we opted for baked beans, coleslaw, and macaroni and cheese.Small portions my a**!We barely had room left on the table after the very nice waitress brought it out to us.Everything was delicious so it was easy to eat our fill...and we ended up with 2 To-go boxes FULL of meat along with about 16 ounces of the Mac and cheese and 16 ounces of the baked beans left to take home....All for $40 (plus tax and tip and drinks but still...)I highly recommend stopping here.TL;DR : a lot of good food for 40 bucks

I've eaten ribs from all over the area.. these are fall off the bone , soft and they don't have that " hammy " taste that too many rib shacks have these days.. you can also order individual ribs , one , two , three , or four... some of the best ribs I've ever had and I'm from Memphis .
