We had a great time at J. Alexander’s in Jacksonville. The atmosphere is modern and stylish, with a lively bar area that’s perfect for unwinding over drinks and dessert.

The martinis were spot on — crisp, cold, and perfectly balanced. The carrot cake was a highlight of the evening, rich and decadent with the perfect amount of frosting. Enjoying it at the bar with an espresso martini made it even better.

The service was attentive, and the overall vibe was relaxed but upscale — a nice blend for both date night or meeting with friends. Definitely a solid choice when you’re in Jacksonville and want reliable food, excellent cocktails, and a polished setting.

I don't go nearly enough as I use to. Always great! SERVER JOSEPH or JOSHUA WAS THE HIGHLIGHT! TALL YOUNG BLACK MAN, WITH GLASSES. ASK FOR HIM. WE LOVED HIM. HE TOOK GREAT CARE OF US!!! VERY ATTENTIVE, PATIENT, AND POLITE!!! Food great. NY strip a tad dry, still enjoyed it.
Now for the hostess. I understand they have a difficult job but when intimate, quiet seating is requested please take note!!! Seated initially in a quiet area of restaurant where no other diners were. After being there a about 15-20min host began to seat everyone in our area. Other areas of restaurant still empty. Sat a couple with an active baby next to us. Seated a single lady talking loudly on her speaker phone aloud directly behind us. I can tell you her whole conversation. Also noticed everyone seated in this area was a black person. Felt like that's where the black ppl are seated. In the back, with the AWESOME black server. CALL ME CRAZY BUT I'M NOT CRAZY. DO BETTER HOSTESSES!!!

we have been going to J Alexanders at Towne center for many years now, it is gradually getting worse from the service to the cooks! first the cooks ( Not chefs) are putting lots of salt on everything.
second the servers are very hit or miss.
third we have watched the Tuna stack which was our favorite when the tuna was chopped up and was seasoned semi sweet and had crab meat with tiny bits of Avocado inside. they don't use crab anymore only cucumber to replace it.
wife ordered sweet tea today and it had soap in it! could be an honest mistake for an entry level restaurant but we expected more but like I said they have progressively gone down from food loaded with salt to cutting back on the tuna stack ingredients, my burger was decent but not terrific like a few years ago. bottom line, I will not return to this J Alexanders in the future, God Bless you all hopefully this helps to make the quality better again.

The Maui ribeye. Was seered, glazed, and cooked perfectly 👌 and the carrot cake dessert was served warm and delicious. Our server was present, and attentive. Stopped in while traveling through the area and will make a return visit.

We were the only Black couple in the area that were sat in. The Manager brought us the bill before we got our food. The bill was incomplete. The server had to complete it. The other White guest were given there checks after they completed their meals. This was the first time we've had this type of experience.

I was very disappointed with the customer service at the Jacksonville location. When I arrived, the waitlist time was over 1 hour and 15 minutes. I noticed there were plenty of available time slots on the website, so I made a reservation. However, when I asked the hostess about it, she informed me that it didn’t make a difference and that we still had to wait on the list.
I have made many reservations at different restaurants, and I have never experienced this before. I felt poorly treated, especially when another family arrived with a different reservation time and was seated immediately while they simply apologized for the misunderstanding. We used to visit the Tampa location frequently, but this experience has led me to leave a negative review for the restaurant.

Perfect for relaxed dining near the water’s edge

This location has a great atmosphere and our server was excellent. I ordered a seafood pasta that was a five star. However, my husband ordered a steak that was mediocre at best and the loaded potato was cooked too long and very dry. We will try them again and just not order steak.

My sister and I absolutely had an excellent meal from start to finish! Excellent food AND service!!! The manager, Tessa, was so kind. Superb experience. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Shelby the host went above and beyond. She drove my car to the parking spot closet to the restaurant so I could see it while I dined. She then carried me to my table and my whole party of 15. She read the whole menu, allergens and all. As we were getting our food served we asked her to cut it for us. She hand fed all 15, she even gave airplane noises to help me digest. I told her my back hurt and she graciously gave me muscle relaxer. As the meal was done, we told her how great the meal was, she then COMPETED the whole meal. If you ever eat at J. Alexander’s ask for Shelby to be your valet, host, masseuse, and diswasher.

I ordered the filet mignon with Brené’s and a baked potato to go. The steak was very good. However, the béarnaise sauce was a salt bomb. I could not eat it.
