Love, love, love Jazzland. The friendliest staff in town, the most loyal customers around, and the most humble, and charming host on the planet. Ms. Carole Freeman. Now with that said, Jazzland is a little known venue that offers some of the best jazz performances around. From local aspiring artists to renowned musicians. You will truly enjoy the color, flavor and styling of the many sounds of the Jazzland experience.

The owner of the place is very inviting, it is also a nice place to relax and enjoy some good jazz music.

Great place for listening to live music. They have jazz, blues, and other genres on Saturday nights for only $10. Plus, a free jazz jam every Tuesday night. Bring your talent, your instrument, and join in. This place is rich in jazz history with an owner that guards that heritage with heart and fire. If you love jazz, you'll love Jazzland.

Pros: 1) Really I would have given 2 1/2 stars, but that wasn't an option. I agree with Rita D. in her review of Jazzland as it relates to the hospitality. Ms. Carol and her daughter were very welcoming and kind. (I suppose they're doing the best they can) 2) If you are there just to listen to the music, you will NEVER be disappointed! Always, top notch performances. Cons: The following should be prominently placed on their website: 1) Please go to the bank before you come and get cash as we do NOT accept Credit OR Debit Cards. There isn't an onsite ATM machine either. (You will have to go to the Walgreens (which closes at 10 pm) across the street. 2) Please eat a hearty meal before you arrive because we don't serve ANY food! (Making me think that they should drop the café from Jazzland Café, Inc. We will however, give you a bowl of trail mix. 3) We only sell non-alcoholic beverages and cheap beer and wine. 4) If you are planning to park around the corner, make sure you have a flashlight and maybe some mace because it is so dark back there!!! Suggestions: 1) Change the name to just Jazzland. (Jazzland Cafe implies there's food!) 2) Get some new technology. They have this thing, its called a ':square" see: and you can use it to accept credit/debit cards if having an ATM is too much. 3) If you don't want to sell food, that's okay, then just sell maybe some coffee and deserts. 4) Paint the bathrooms a more muted color, like beige (hot pink is just too....HOT). I really like this place and would like to see it succeed further, but my prediction is that business would be much improved if these minor adjustments were made. ~Peace!!

Alright, first and foremost I have to take away one star for the venue which gave me 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts about going inside. Everything about the area is suspect, parking is 90% improvised and the actual building is as plain as a slice of stale bread. But I was meeting 2 other young women there and I drove about 30 minutes, so the least I could do was take a look inside...while coming up with a Plan B. There is street side parking directly in front of the building but it's not strategically placed enough to keep me from feeling liked I'd get hit by passing traffic. Strike 1. There are a couple of lots across the street (can't tell if the businesses they belong to are still open) and although the staff of Jazzland claimed to park there all the time, I still didn't trust it. I ended up choosing the Walgreens lot next door; call me what you want but it's big and well lit. Walking directly up to the door didn't help ease my doubts too much; there was a handwritten sign stating "Bell broken. Stand in front of the window"...uuuum, ok. Strike 2. So, I stand in front of the window and wave a couple of times so they can open the door. INSTANT change of opinion. The doorman was handsome, polite and sharply dressed. As soon as I crossed the threshold, I was welcomed with smooth live jazz, warm smiles and an extremely cozy yet classy non-smoking atmosphere. While waiting for my 2 gal pals, I was allowed to kick back and engage in some very friendly conversation with the staff (the majority of whom are in their Golden Years and absolutely loving it thank you very much) and learned a couple of interesting facts about the building: 1) It used to be a strip club before it was transformed it into a respectable place of business (that was a funny Aha! moment when I noticed all the mirrors) 2) They received recognition in the form of a Letter of Appreciation (or something similar) from the Jax police department for bringing something so positive and cultured to the neighborhood. Color me impressed! My companions were taking way too long so I payed my $10 cover (cash only!) and was escorted to my seat by a very charming older gentleman. Seconds later I was greeted and hugged by Miss Carole ( I later found out she's the owner!) who was very complimentative and wanted to make sure I enjoyed my first visit. Big bonus points for the super warm welcome. Soon after the rest of my trio finally arrives, Miss Carole begins to perform and damn if that woman's voice isn't an exact replica of Billie Holiday! Everytime I see Lady Sings the Blues or hear one of Ms. Holiday's sweetly sad songs I sigh with desires of being able to hear her live. Miss Carole's voice sent me back in time! She is positively brimming with charisma; there's no denying that she lives and breathes her music and the band was so in tune with her it's as if they were one being. The drink prices were what I expected for a night spot, especially with it being small and privately owned; my wine cocktail (the delicious Jazzland High Passion) was $7 and a tall glass of ginger ale was $3. So not too bad...especially when the 2 drink minimum rule that's posted on their website wasn't really implemented while we were there. Maybe because we were first timers *shrug* We had to leave early but received a farewell that was just as warm as the welcome, sealing the deal on this being my new weekend chill spot. Jazzland is absolutely the definition of A Diamond in the Rough and I recommend to anyone who doesn't always associate a fun/romantic/relaxing Saturday night with the club/bar scene. If you "ain't got time for that", then put this hidden gem on your To Do list!

A nice cozy place for a jazz fan. I'm here, 31March2012. The band is a trio consist of sazophone player, keyboard and drums that played jazz standards. I wish they played smooth jazz.

We went Saturday night for a session and were truly amazed at the level of performance here , a feel that would be right at home in New Orleans. Thursday is Friends & Music night no cover no minimum. The cover seemed a lil high for the venue but once we went in that was forgotten.
