Wow. Just wow. Kathy’s Bakery Café absolutely blew me away—like a moldy gust from a forgotten freezer. If you’re looking for a place that perfectly captures the essence of “we gave up years ago,” look no further. This is it. This is your Mecca.
The food?
A culinary miracle. I never thought someone could make a fruit tart taste like wet cardboard and expired pie filling, but here we are. It was so lifeless, I nearly checked for a toe tag. The one lone strawberry on top really pulled the whole crime scene together. Bravo, Chef. Michelin stars are shaking.
The coffee?
Exquisite! Who needs flavor when you can have hot milk with a vague hint of bitterness and shame? My “cappuccino” tasted like someone yelled the word ‘espresso’ at a glass of warm water. I didn't drink it—I studied it. It belongs in a lab, not a café.
The ambiance?
Picture a retirement home lobby with fewer amenities and the smell of mild despair. The bathroom was “Out of Order,” which is totally fine—who needs modern plumbing when you have canned peaches on pastry? I'm sure the health department is this close to giving them a medal.
The service?
Electric. The staff moved with the enthusiasm of DMV employees on sedatives. I half expected someone to ask me if I was lost. There’s something special about paying $8 for a dessert and feeling like you’ve inconvenienced everyone just by existing.
To Kathy (the legend herself):
Your café is truly one-of-a-kind. Not everyone has the vision to take a bakery and strip it of joy, flavor, freshness, and functioning restrooms. You've done what few dare to do—create a place where every bite makes you reflect on your life choices.
Seriously, though, if your dream was to open a sad corner of culinary purgatory—congrats. You nailed it.
Miss Kathy is the sweetest her prices are fair and her Cafe and treats are beautiful I work next door at O'Reilly's and she is always amazing. And the coffee is a must have
I went with the idea of getting various Cuban sweets for my office mates hoping to find good prices but to no avail. Nothing in this café shows a price. When you ask the price of the sweets, the lady who is there is the one who puts the price per word, but there is not a single label that says the price. And I know the Cuban bakeries in Miami, I can say that this one is a little overpriced. At the end I left without being able to buy anything, because they told me to go to Dollar Tree 😂 Prices and customer service are lousy. I do not recommend it.
Great dessert shop. Prices are fair and the selection is great!
We are so happy to find this gem of a Cuban Bakery so close to our new home in Jacksonville, FL! Ever since we moved away from Miami we had not been able to find a place to have cuban pastries and Cuban Sandwiches the original way made with Roast pork slices! (Not pulled pork). We highly recommend Kathy’s Bakery on Beach Blvd!

They will overcharge you in secret and never give an itemized receipt, I got pastry items and they put it in the box carelessly where when I get home and everything is everything and the box is leaking and they refuse to take responsibility and never would even offer to replace a single item. Very mediocre food at best for unreasonable prices and terrible care

I have visited this place 2 times, the man with that face and that super annoying character tells you a price and when they charge you they give you another one, they charge very expensive and the service is super bad they don't want to give receipt the sweets are very old in storage I will never go back to this place and I have friends who have gone through this same thing, I understand that we all have problems but not to mistreat the public or scam this, I do not recommend it

The sweets here are delicious, but the service is terrible. I've visited three times, and each time the service has been consistently awful. The woman behind the counter is always rude and unfriendly—customer service clearly isn't her strong suit. Despite the tasty treats, I don’t think I’ll be returning. As a customer, I don't want to keep supporting a business where I'm treated poorly every time I visit.

Kathy’s Kakes are very deliciously moist with a wide variety of flavors always displayed.
Many customers raved about the flavor in her cakes.
