I am very disappointed. This is place is closed for good. The web site is not update and still show as open. Very unprofessional from the owner side. If you felt on this trap and happen to drive all the way to here to find the place closed down the street there is a place call Puerto Plata restaurant. Which appears to be good. Don't drive to Lechonera el Coqui is closed for good. However posted a 5 star recently is not telling the true.

Travelled 3 hours and was very excited to try the tower just to find out it was closed. Unacceptable.

Food was just okay, the food over-priced and the service was horrible. Had to wait over 30 min for our food. The server spoke little English so kept getting everything we asked for wrong...and my husband spoke Spanish to her!! The back of restaurant and bathrooms smelled of dead animal. It was horrible. We will not be going back.

Please read this review before you go to this restaurant and if you do go I hope your experience was better than ours. We have been to this restaurant a few times because three out of four of our family members are vegan. We order four meals and we double checked to make sure that she new the order was vegan. Two of the meals were made with meat which was only discovered after we took a bite. The meal took forever to begin with. The staff made no attempt to make things right. We called the owner and left a message and they never called back. If you are vegan I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS RESTAURANT. Service always left a lot to be desired. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.

I loved the food, service and environment. I stumbled across this place accidentally with my daughter and we decided to stay. It was really good food, we've never had authentic Puerto Rican food, so it was really good to try. The service was great and the music was really nice too. I went at a time where barely anyone was there, which is how I like it but the environment was nice regardless. Highly recommended.

This people are thinking they gave food for free , if you are customer , you can't not treat a customer with disrespect , again is not for free, food is decent but not a super food, restroom are nasty , and definitely server are very disrespect, I don't recommend this place to no buddy, one start is a lot .

So, I've been planning to come for months after seeing the viral video on Facebook. I loved the interior decor as soon as you walk in very Puerto Rican. I've seen a lot of the complaints about the service and I had no issues with my experience. Servers were attentive and quick, food came out pretty fast too. I went for Saturday lunch so that may have been a factor since there weren't a lot of people dining. Now on to the food. The complimentary bread is nothing to brag about, one of the pieces tasted a little burnt the other didn't taste like anything. But on to the reason I went...the Trifongo tower. This definitely lived up to the hype I've built in my head over the past few months. It wasnt the best mofongo I've ever had but it is definitely above average. The portions are huge, my entree was probably enough to feed 3 people. I ordered the trifongo w shrimp, which were big and tasty, and churrasco, which was extremely well seasoned/flavorful and cooked properly to my specifications. I would've enjoyed a bit more charring but that's a personal preference. The chicken broth/sauce definitely kicked up the entree a notch but was also a bit of a detriment because it was so rich and there was so much of it. I would probably order it on the side and use it as needed next time. But when you get the right combination of that broth, trifongo, and meat it will have your tastebuds singing "Que Bonita Bandddeerrraaa." Last points about my visit, the price point was a little high since I just ordered one thing but since it was enough to feed 2 or 3 people, it didnt negatively impact my opinion a lot, also I was a bit disappointed the servers were not able to give me the three proteins i initially wanted, Churrasco, Shrimp, and Lechon w the Trifongo because I really wanted to sample all three. However, I still had a great experience overall, and would return next time I'm in Jacksonville.
