I live in Alabama. My girlfriend is from Jacksonville. I was introduced to this gem back in November 2023 when she brought me there for lunch. I wasn’t aware what this little sandwich shop was about but now I understand. I had the Mean Machine and my goodness. That is an amazing sandwich!! I was hooked. I thought about that sandwich once a week if not more until we went back this past weekend and I had it again! It was even better this time!! I cannot wait to go again! Ate here recently after being away from Jax for years. Always liked it in the past, but this location on Beach Blvd. was not good at all. Food quality was bad, and the #1 was not at all what it used to be. Plus, cost was high for size of sandwich.

Lubi’s is a hidden gem of Jacksonville. Many sandwiches are crafted with a blend of flavors you wouldn’t think go together, but the heat-up in foil adds a certain melded magic. The mozzarella lubi is my absolute favorite, and I love the hot peppers but just leave them off if you can’t do spice. Have eaten to-go or in the place hundreds of times over years. It’s simple but perfect.

The Mozzarella Lubi is the BOMB! First night of flying or driving in from wherever I was living at the time, this was the very first first stop after my trip. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Every item it comes with is optional, so if you don't want peppers, just say so and they will oblige!Driving by, the building is incredibly unassuming, and many people don't even notice it. However, the owner has stayed true to the original recipe his parents created in 1969. It is worth your time to check it out.Parking: Parking is limited, so get there either before or after the lunch rush.
