I came here to have a mommy son breakfast with my 5 year old son who is autistic. Patience took great care of us and although I didn’t get the host/bussers name, he was very kind and pleasant as well. All was good until we were leaving and my son got a few feet ahead of me, as I was collecting our things. And cut a waitress off who proceeded to roll her eyes at my autistic 5 year old and didn’t say a word when I apologized. It’s small things like that that can really ruin someone’s day. We are already looked at differently for his behavior, but I didn’t expect it from a waitress that is working. It was truly upsetting. I’ve worked in restaurants since I was 15 years old. I’ve had plenty of children cut me off and not once did it cross my mind to roll my eyes at a CHILD. Let alone a toddler. Patience and the host/busser, love them. Amazing people <3 the other waitress could use a slight attitude check.

I am a dine-in kinda gal. I meet with a friend at the near Highway 17( Jacksonville, FL). Metro is a busy, bustling wide open diner. The menu is more like home cooking rather than a hoity-toity bill of fare. The meatloaf is great and the mashed taters and gravy is as good as grandma’s (sorry, granny) …. Generous portions so come hungry or don’t be shy about asking for a to-go. Beer and wine are also available. A busy, bustling tasty spot!
Vegetarian options: My most recent visit I ordered a very satisfying rice/ veggie bowl…. Again tasty, ample portion.

Chicken and waffles. They said theyre known for it. I understand. The fried chicken had good seasoning and was moist. The waffles were crispy on the outside and had strawberry butter on them. They have some magic sipping sauce for the chicken that was very good.

I used to love this place. I hadn't been in awhile so I decided to have lunch. I got the chicken pot pie. All of the chicken was piled up in the middle with no sauce. The sauce and veggies were on the outskirts. That's fine, I can mix it myself I guess. But there were too many bites of chicken that I could not chew through. It grossed me out enough to abandon the meal. My son got the boneless chicken wings and it was the same issue. Service is great, atmosphere ok.

Food for price is good! Bathroom could use a remodel or at least a deep clean. Overall nice spot for a family brunch though! I really love a good eggs Benedict and the Cali is great!
Amazing atmosphere. Chicken and waffles are delicious. My favorite to order is the meat lovers omelette or Chicken and waffles. Home style cooking from Shepard's pie to apple pie. Prices are very reasonable and delivery is available through Uber. Service is quick and friendly. Instead of spending money on fast food stop by and see the prices are about the same, but the quality from Metro Diner is superior.
Vegetarian options: Salads, fruit bowls, grits, waffles, toast, ask for meatless options.
Dietary restrictions: It's cool to order so tell the waiter and the staff will do the rest.

This place will make you want to get refunds from all the money you ever spent on cracker barrel, Ihop and waffle house! The food here is exceptional... with the high cost of food and service why waste your money on places that miss the mark. I just wish they were in more locations.
