I am usually never disappointed with Newk's, but was a different story. I decided to order the taco salad to go because I to wanted to try the chili since I was considering buying the family chili night to-go meal. The chili was very disappointing. I believe I got the very bottom of the pan, no meat, five total kidney beans and the rest was just burnt water. To add to my disappointment with the chili, except for the very top layer, the lettuce was not fresh (black, wilted & mushy). And no, this wasn't from adding hot chili to it, I kept the chili separate in the to-go cup it came in. My salad was also missing the tortilla strips. :( I think I'll stick to my other favorite in the future.

Food is good but do not like the fact they don't do uniform discounts. Those don't apply to me as I am not a first responder or a military personnel. If a company can't give those professions a discount I can't keep giving that company my 💰.

The spinach in my salad wasn't washed. Hard dirt particles. Dressing was flavorless. Chicken was like leather and dry. Lobster bisque soup tasted good, but no pieces of lobster. The iced tea was perfect, with real lemon wedges.

Nice bright restaurant with a friendly, capable staff. I most often order their salads and ask for a doggie bag for half of it, so huge. Good menu.
