Food was great, music was awesome. Try to pay with cash. If paying with credit double check before you close out. If no reservation you can only sit at the table for 2 hours. See
Ive been told the building has been condemned.
The building was horrible...but the salmon was wonderful.
Drinks...not the best.

Music is solid. Consistent. I had Salmon Bites and they were FIRE! Rice and peas were good too. Quesadillas had peppers in it. Solid.

My fiance and I came there on Saturday to support the Jacksonville Steppers event. We were there before the place got busy and we ordered food along with another friend of ours. My fiance got his food timely however it was 3 1/2 hours later and I along with our friend had not received our food. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and he ordered the lamb chops and grits. We ended up canceling the orders and left to go eat. I understand being busy but again we were the 1st / 2nd people to order food.
I wouldn’t recommend your establishment to anyone!

First of all we arrived at 11am only to sit in the bar in the dark for 10 minutes. It was 30 degrees outside so of course it was freezing inside.
Once the lady finally showed up she asked us how long have we been waiting twice. We told her since you been open. After she finally gets situated she asks us for our order.
We then order ox tails which 10 minutes later we are told they wont have any available until 5pm.
We arrived at 11am didn't get our food until after 12pm. She suggested 2 drinks which one was not even available. Disappointed to say the least. I took my friend for her birthday which was disappointing as I spend money here regularly.
After all said and done we proceed to pay its now almost 2pm. The machine doesn't work. She doesn't even suggest maybe taking and item off the meal as we spent well over $100.00
She says theres nothing she can do. Its family owned and she is the only one there along with the Chef on Tuesday.
Horrible service all the way around.
I will be calling to speak with the manager also.
You may want to hire more people. Also you should know what's available for your customers before they order.
Im not sure of the other waitress that usally assist me. She is Awesome. The one from yesterday not so much.
Thank you

The rice and peas was so delicious complimentary with my salmon. The greens were overly seasoned so I wasn’t able to finish them. The macaroni was okay as well, not the best but my children ate it.

INCREDIBLE Oxtail!!!!!…is an understatement
When I come to Jax I make it my priority to eat here at least 2-3 times and it’s the first thing I do when I land. (My apologies for not doing this review sooner) The only explanation for how great the food is would be there is some kind of wizard or angel in the kitchen. I’ve traveled a lot and never had oxtail like this. If time allowed for it I’d fly back at least once a month for it. Cooked to perfection, falls off the bone, nice size pieces and great cuts, not too fatty but it’s the only time I’ve ever enjoyed the fat as a part of the experience, it melts in your mouth and you can barely tell it’s there, it blends well with the meat. I dare anyone to try and find better…good luck.
The catfish and salmon bites also were fried with the perfect crunch, every piece felt had hand picked, and you can tell the remoulade did not come out of a jar. The collard greens and fries are also top 5 I’ve had anywhere. Everything was made with love. What capped off this experience was the bartender/server and meeting the owner who happened to be there this time. The bartender/server was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and kept it in mind that I don’t consume dairy. The owner was organically social, happy, vibrant and I can tell how much he cares. The experience here is direct reflection of his personality. Rio is a Jacksonville gem to be cherished forever.
Cheers to AJ

I found this gem on IG & I’m so glad we decided to give it a try. The food was very good OMMMGGG! We went for brunch & I ordered the oxtails & grits while my hubby decided to go w/the lambchops entree. The oxtails were tender & the flavors were top tier!! My hubby’s lamp chops were astonishing & so was the mac/cheese. He also rated the greens a 10/10! Overall this was a great choice & we definitely will be stopping by again!🖤
