I honestly hate writing this because Riverview could be great. It has its moments — like the omelets in the morning, which are absolutely brilliant. Whoever came up with that idea deserves a raise. And don’t even get me started on Chicken Nugget Thursday — it’s easily the best part of the week and one of the few times the place feels alive.

But outside of those bright spots, the experience has gone downhill fast. The guy with the long hair dreadlocks who runs the burger station is just miserable to deal with. I don’t know his name (I think Kevin)
but he’s consistently rude and acts like making burgers is the hardest job on earth. Every time I ask for one, he gives me attitude or snaps like I’m wasting his time. Bro, your boy’s just hungry — I’m not asking for a five-star meal, just a simple burger without being disrespected.

It’s disappointing, because Riverview should be the heart of campus dining. Instead, it feels like a place where patience and positivity went missing. I get that people have tough days, but this isn’t a one-off thing — it’s every time. And it’s not fair to the students paying thousands for meal plans to be treated like an inconvenience.

I’ll always appreciate the omelet station and Chicken Nugget Thursday — they’re proof that Riverview can do things right. But until they fix the attitude and energy at that burger line, this place will keep feeling more like a chore than a campus highlight.

Friend found a maggot in their food and someone recorded a rat climbing above the salad bar the other day. Employees are rude and short with students. Students have complained for years and submitted feedback repeatedly to leadership, and nothing ever changes. JU should have terminated their contract with Aramark and hired a new Food Service Manager years ago, especially considering how much students pay for meal plans.
