The restaurant is large, clean, and very spacious, which made for a comfortable dining environment. However, I felt the lighting could be improved—it was a bit dim and made the atmosphere feel more somber than inviting.

The staff were courteous and professional, but they didn’t smile much, which gave the service an oddly flat tone.

I ordered the parmesan salmon, which is made fresh and takes an extra 20 minutes—something I didn’t mind at all. I chose mac and cheese, cornbread, and yams as my sides. The plate looked beautiful, and the food was served hot with generous portions. Unfortunately, despite how good everything looked, the taste just didn’t live up to expectations. I ended up throwing my meal away, which I never enjoy doing.

My husband ordered the oxtail and finished his entire plate—but to be fair, he enjoys just about everything 😏.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I wanted to be honest about my experience. I know the restaurant is a Jacksonville staple, but the flavor just didn’t hit the mark for me.

This is our go-to place for southern cookin'. We've tried just about every item they offer, and Soul Food Bistro does not miss. Cannot wait to go back again soon!

The menu is the only reason we frequent this location. The menu is comprised of delicious variety of southern comfort entrees and desserts. However, basic service and efficient operations are extremely lacking making the dining experience 1 star worthy.

I was told about this place while visiting Jacksonville. I hadn't had good ox tails in so long! I heard they had the best in town.. so of course I had to go find out!!
They did not disappoint!! I ordered the ox tails meal and the fried chicken meal because I couldn't decide 😂
And let me tell you.. it was all delicious!! The ox tails were so tender and tasted so good!! And the fried chicken was crispy and well seasoned!! The cornbread was on point, and those greens.. oooo-weee.. I'll definitely be going back!!😋
If you love soul food like I do.. you should definitely go see these folks..❤️

This was my first time going there. I ordered the chicken drumettes with mac and cheese and lima beans. And a sweet tea . The sweet tea what's good tasted like my grandmother made it.

The only issue was the proportions for the money spent. Ole boy was holding way back on the rice.

The last few visits have been disappointing. Last visit I just left without anything due to poor service. None of the staff smiles or seems to pretend to enjoy their job. Food prices go up and quality of food is down. It’s always hit or miss if the food will be good . The portions don’t equal the prices either compared to other places . I would like to see more customer service training and everyone on same page serving the line for portion sizes. If it’s supposed to be 1 scoop (which is ridiculous)make sure it’s a full scoop. I’ve been coming here for years and I won’t be returning any time soon.
