The ice cream here is incredible. It honestly is the best, I feel in the city. So this review is based just on the experience of trying to purchase a giftcard. I drove across town to purchase 3 separate giftcards for Christmas. When I went to check out, the worker tried to charge me $2.50 for every giftcard. I told her I have never had to pay a fee to buy a giftcard unless it was a visa or Mastercard the giftcard. She corrected me and said every place charges a fee to buy a giftcard because it costs them money to make them. I told her that she was absolutely wrong and that I indeed have purchased dozens of giftcards, business specific, and haven't been charged. I ended up leaving and going to Waffle Cone where indeed, I was able to purchase 3 giftcards and no extra fees. It doesn't look good to argue with a customer about their experience, especially when you are absolutely wrong. I understand passing on a small fee if it does cost your business something, but $2.50 seems excessive.

This place is super cute, welcoming, & the ice cream hits! My husband and father in law both ordered banana splits and said they were great. I had the brownie sundae and it was delicious. The brownies are so good! Def recommend checking them out

I had a bad experience not with the ice cream but with how I was treated. The owner or the manager (the older lady) was very rude to me while taking my order. She obviously was having a bad day however that don't give anyone the right to project that on to others. It was so obvious that some other customers in there noticed it and offered to help me pay for my order. If you're not a people's person then you're in the wrong industry. I don't understand how anyone can be made working in a ice cream shop all day. I will never return i will go on the other side of main to the other ice cream shop there's is the best anyway.

Ice cream is good but I'm addicted to the peanut butter cookies 🤩

Nice spot with great selections and great customer service. Free samples were available for those that can’t make up their minds.

Super disappointing. All the ice cream was super icey. Kinda like freezer burn. I tried a few flavors & they were all just so bad I left without getting anything & I love ice cream so this was bad. The lady working was nice but the product just wasn’t good.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5 Star Review for Springfield Scoops – A Charming & Kid-Friendly Ice Cream Spot!

Springfield Scoops on Main Street in downtown Jacksonville is a sweet little gem with a warm, welcoming vibe. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly kind, patient, and full of smiles—making the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable.

What We Loved:

🍦 Bold & Delicious Flavors – The ice cream selection was impressive, offering everything from unique, adventurous flavors to classic staples like vanilla bean (which was rich, creamy, and packed with real flavor). The texture was perfect—smooth and indulgent without being overly sweet.

📸 Instagram-Worthy Decor – The shop had cute decals and backdrops perfect for photo ops, adding a fun touch to our visit.

🧒 Super Kid-Friendly! – This might be one of the most family-friendly ice cream shops I’ve been to! They had books, a dedicated kids’ table, and even activities to keep little ones entertained while (or after) enjoying their treats. Big plus for parents!

🪑 Plenty of Seating – Unlike some small ice cream spots, Springfield Scoops had ample seating—indoors and possibly outdoors (if applicable), making it a great place to relax.

📍 Prime Downtown Location – Conveniently nestled among other fantastic small businesses, including a metaphysical shop, fitness center, homemade food store, bakery, and boutique. Perfect for making a full day out in the area!

🛍️ Black-Owned & Chic – As a POC-owned business, the shop had an extra layer of warmth and relatability for us. The aesthetic was modern, clean, and stylish—definitely a place you’d want to revisit.

🚻 Clean & Accessible Restroom – Always a major plus when exploring downtown!

Why Not 5 Stars?

While we had a great experience, a slightly wider variety of dairy-free or vegan options (if not already available) would make it even more inclusive. Also, though the flavors were bold, one or two of the more unique ones could use a tiny bit more balance.

Final Thoughts:

Springfield Scoops is a must-visit for families, couples, or anyone looking for quality ice cream in a vibrant, supportive small-business hub. The service, atmosphere, and location make it a standout spot, and we’ll definitely be back!

Highly recommend for a sweet treat in the heart of Jacksonville! 🍦✨

I ❤️ Scoops in Springfield. My go to ICE CREAM SHOP!! They always have a variety of flavors! The customer service is always pleasant and kid friendly. They have the cutest kids' corner full of books for the children to read. The environment is relaxing and also very inviting. I highly suggest this spot as it is not a chain ice cream shop, and Black owned! 😉
