Showed up at 9:26pm and they said they were closed. Yet, they were supposed to be open until 10pm!

I wasn't impressed with my first experience. They have a hostess that does nothing but ask if you have a reservation for you to only stand in line to place your order. She would also go and check for open seats only to say they could possibly seat us.Food wise, they didn't have cheese platters. It is kinda their thing. The bar service was haphazardly, and the single bartender was overwhelmed. The hostess who didn't have a purpose could have helped the bartender.I typically give places a second shot when things go bad. It will be a while before I go back there again.

The food is always good. Very unique and well prepared. But that is all taken away when you order something on the menu that arrives at your table with different food items than described on the menu. I ordered a meat board which comes with beef,Turley, ham, some dipping sauce bread and salad. Mine arrived with chicken salad instead of the beef. When I asked why, I was told they were out of beef. Beef costs more than chicken salad and that should be mentioned to the customer before completing the order not after I ask about it. They did not have decaf at 6pm. I wanted coffee but can't drink a lot of caffeine. The coffee comes without a spoon or cream or sugar. When that finally arrives its in tiny to go sauce cups in a proportioned amount. Are they wizards knowing how much sugar and cream I want? My meat board came out 10 minutes before my wife's burger and we had to hunt someone down for utensils and plates for the meals too. Yes the food is good but what good is that if you're doing the work to have it presented appropriately. Mgr. Did in fact take $8.59 off the bill which i did not ask for but no apology, no acknowledgement that you dont simply change items on you plate vs what youre expecting from the menu.Nobody does there job anymore. I find the place that does this, I will be loyal to them. Bread and board.....not so much

I have never been more embarrassed in a dining situation until I came here. I had planned a night to take my mom and some friends moms to dinner before going to see a live talk with James Patterson. I made a reservation in advance (see screenshot). When we arrived I was told I did not have a reservation and I showed them my confirmation. Three employees then have a whole debate on if I have a reservation or not, whether they will honor my reservation or not meanwhile there is one couple sitting in the entire restaurant and they openly said they had 3 reservations only for the whole night and I was not one of them. This is all happening in front of myself and my guests. The inform me that they will not honor my reservation and that we can order at the counter. At this point I say let me discuss it with them and step to the side. We decide we will order at the counter and just enjoy the evening. I go to the restroom and the manager is sitting on a table in the back meanwhile these employees are up front making decisions about what will and wont happen in the restaurant. We look over the menu and while we are doing this the 3 employees are now gossiping at the counter. Some other guest come in and order in front of us and when we go up to order the employee walks away from the register without any explanation after she knows we have been waiting. I order for myself and my mother and the employee says we are out of lemonade you need to get it from the back. Mind you I have never been here before and have no clue what she means so I assume the bar. I walk to the bar and the bartender has an attitude and says you get it over there and points to the storefront beyond the bar. The food was overall not bad but the employee attitudes and the atmosphere they create ruins the experience. A manager sitting on a table in the back while your employees run the restaurant quickly explains how this is happening. With so many other options in downtown I would suggest going somewhere else where employees make you feel welcome rather than a burden. Personally for myself I woke up this morning still embarrassed and waiting for texts from my friends where I can explain to them how they entrusted me to take their moms out to an event and the experience we had at this restaurant. When you deal with individuals that have Lupus and fibromyalgia who barely leave the house going to a place like this should be a treat and a nice experience because who knows when they will have the strength to leave the house again to enjoy a meal out. What should have been a nice dinner out with a server, cocktails and a full dining experience was ruined by a poorly managed staff who argues about reservations in an empty restaurant.

Truly underwhelmed by this place. I guess as soon as I was told I needed a reservation to eat picnic food, I should have just left, but, there are limited options nearby, so we were banished to window seating like goldfish once the hostess could be bothered to take our order. (Waited quite a while.) Maybe if I could have read the tiny wall mounted menu, I would have realized everything is Ala carte. For a $17 sandwich I'd expect a handful of chips? A pickle? Actual tableware.... But, no. I ate a $17 chicken sandwich on a piece of wax paper with a FLIMSY plastic knife and fork that could hardly handle the task at hand. And, let's just say their $17 Cesar salad is open to interpretation, as the dressing, was not Cesar dressing. So, how does that qualify? Guess how much for a BLT? Also, $17. Cheese grits were like soup. And, let's not forget that they were out of the first two things I ordered. Then, my son tried to order hot chocolate and was told no... something about she would not know who ordered it, we wouldnt be able to hear our name called, and she would not be able to find us. Umm, ok....? Really weird experience, and I have to assume the only reason this place is popular is supply and demand. Jax needs to do better.

We had exceptional service. Thank you ladies so much for going above and beyond for my family tonight. We sat outside to let our boys run around and the hostess was kind enough to have the servers come to us. When it was about to rain they happily welcomed us back in. We were just passing through on a road trip and stopped in. We would happily go back. Thank you again for your 5 star service.

Me and my family has had bread and board at least three times, but for some reason this particular time the bread seemed stale and it took forever for our waitress to tend to whatever we needed. And on top of all of that the past times we had went kids ate free with a purchase of an adult meal, even online it’s says kids eat free but when we get our checks they charged us for our kids meals and then they tell us kids now only eat free on Tuesdays.
