The Coffee Grinder

We usually love this place—the coffee is excellent and the service is typically amazing. That’s what made this experience so disappointing.

We weren’t greeted and instead were met with a standoffish, rude attitude from the barista. We ordered a double shot of espresso over ice with a small splash of cold milk. That’s it. The barista immediately seemed irritated by the request and began listing drink names and saying “so you want (drink names below)? ”

•Latte (mostly steamed milk with espresso)
•Cortado (equal parts espresso and steamed milk)
•Macchiato (espresso with steamed or frothed milk)

None of these were what we asked for.

There is no official menu name for a double shot on ice with a splash of cold milk—and that should not be a problem at a coffee shop. Despite us clearly explaining exactly what we wanted, the barista insisted we were ordering a macchiato, which is not what we were asking for.

The interaction became unnecessarily argumentative and uncomfortable. This was especially shocking because every other barista we’ve encountered here has been 10/10—friendly, polite, and fully capable of making this exact drink without confusion or attitude.

We will most likely be back since we have had so many good experiences just hopefully on a different baristas shift.

We stumbled on this place last night because we needed to go somewhere to wait for my daughter to get out of a concert. Not wanting a bar or restaurant, we found this coffee shop that was open to 1am. When we pulled up, I immediately felt like I was in Europe. Men sitting outside at tables drinking coffee and talking. When I walked inside and saw the menu, it brought me back to Bosnia and Herzegovina where the drink prices were under $3 for drinks! We asked the owner where he from and learned that he was from Sarajevo, Bosnia. He had been to Medjugorje so we talked about that for a few minutes. I got 2 large hot chai lattes and a big muffin for under $10. The atmosphere was great with lots of college aged students as well as old people my age 😂. There was music outside and art inside. This was the best vibe I got from a coffee shop in a long time. I can’t wait to go back!

Went for the first time recently and already making plans with all my friends to meet there again. I went on a Saturday morning and was served immediately. I got the mocha latte and it was fantastic. They had a few pastries and things in the case that looked good that I'll have to try next time.
It was a great place to sit and hang out for a while, and the coffee was great. Would highly recommend.

It’s a little hidden treasure!
Coffee drinks are on point and there’s good pastures selection!
Lady that runs the place is very nice and attentive.
Way better than corporate places- will come back again
