Disappointed‼️ Although, I had a lovely stay at the Wyndham, I wake up this morning deciding I want to try The Red Gill, from what I saw online the food looks amazing. I ordered the shrimp and Grits. Thats literally what I received Shrimp and Grits. No sauce, no season, just plain shrimp and UNDERCOOKED grits. GRITS FELT LIKE I WAS EATING SAND Maybe this was an honest mistake which I could understand but nonetheless I’m disappointed!

The food was horrible I don’t know if they changed the chief from the last time I ordered food but, this is my last time ordering from this restaurant.

I had the ribs, brisket sandwich, and burnt ends sandwich. All were overhauled. The mac and cheese was good, the BBQ beans tasted like bushes beans that were doctored up. You have to order online or at the kiosk inside but the Google listing doesn't mention that.

Atmosphere was horrible. The manager/owner was ridiculous. Call my wife, love, kicked us out. Because I brought an empty can of beer into the restaurant because there was an garbage can. She was very brutal about it. It was a horrible experience. The food is way overpriced. The restaurant sucks!

Great food, Charlie the bartender/waiter was great and personable. Food was outstanding, I had the fried fish with collard greens and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was basic but good with the blend of cheese used. The collards were seasoned as I would expect collards to be in a soul food restaurant. The fish was outstanding, perfectly breaded and cooked. The only issue we had was they add a 13 percent tip which wouldn't be a problem but because the payment was on an electronic device, we didn't see a breakdown until after the payment. There was also a service fee, not sure what that was for but in all we ended up tipping on a service fee and the 13 percent an additional 20 percent since we didn't realize those were already there. Now that I know, I can adjust accordingly. I do recommend them, but be aware of the additions.

We came here for Father's Day and were surprised that there were so many tables available that we didn't need a reservation after all. The one and only waiter in the place, Charlie, also doubled as the bartender. I suspect there was probably only one cook as well. In any case, Charlie did a phenomenal job and was very personable and charismatic. The meal was good for most of our party; however, my chicken was incredibly dry and the green beans were swimming in vinegar and onions. Ick. However, my husband was pleased with his fish dish and my kiddo liked the quesadilla, which was huge. Prices were good EXCEPT that they charge a $3.50 service charge and a forced gratuity without any explanation or indication. So when our waiter brought the handheld payment scanner, I wound up tipping on TOP of the gratuity and service charge, turning our $80+ bill for 4 people to over $100! Yeah, my bad for letting my anxiety get the better of me and not asking to see the line items up front, but a little transparency still would have been greatly appreciated. Also, what the heck is the “service charge for?!?” It's not like we asked for delivery or even call ahead pickup—we dined right there in the restaurant! Even just $3.50 is a greedy bend over fee when there's no explanation or just cause. The only other complaint I would have wasn't exactly the restaurant's fault: a couple came in and were seated at a table near ours, and they both had their phones our watching TikTok at FULL VOLUME the whole time, which was a distraction and interruption for our dinner. Even more of a distraction was that the woman TOOK OFF HER SHOES while at the table and placed her bare feet in the man's lap. Ew! Cmon, guys - what ever happened to “No shirt, No shoes, No service?” Would we return? Maybe, but unlikely. More than someone flashing their toe jam at the table, I find a forced and arbitrary service charge to be unappealing and unappetizing.
