Love that whole place is vegan. Smoothies are beyond amazing and the heaux heaux hot dog blew my mind. I was iffy on it cuz it sounds offbeat, but it is easily a new favorite.

Visited one time during a CD release party/concert for our daughters college-aged band. The space itself was perfect for a small venue - including a bar space and then the entertainment space. The employees and patrons were all very friendly and helpful. Looks like it could be a decent place to hang out (for youngsters - not necessarily for a middle-aged dude like me). Did not try any food - can't comment.

Cute fun, modern bar! But, I’m really disappointed and dissatisfied how the walrus continues to let xenophobic people in the space. I thought this place could be different but, I’ll never return and they have lost multiple supporters coming back. Especially because the owner is a black woman, which made it even more disappointing. But honestly I’m not surprised, you make money from it, and it’s your business. The space just isn’t welcoming to ethnic people really, more so white queers. It’s sad that a black owned business, is gentrified. Great vegan option but, overall very disappointing culture. You continue to host problematic events… it’s so gross Pls do better Walrus, I know it’s about money but, it’s not okay that you continue letting horrible people do these shows for profit… profit over ppl is always a lose lose situation.

The Hello Kitty Rave was so much fun!!!! The Walrus promotes a safe environment for individuals of all kinds and types! Everyone was so nice including the patrons, I'll be back for sure with my girls!

Was quoted $3 for a single domestic beer with a group, and then was charged $4. Tried to explain that we were already quoted $3 and they replied “when was the last time you bought a beer for $3?” And did nothing to remedy the situation after all of us racked up a tab. (Btw the place I work at sells the same beer for $2.54 after tax). The owner was rude to me and said sexist and racist remarks so I felt obligated to review the place. Even though they push a “safe space”. It’s safe for whoever they choose apparently and isn’t equal. Lastly, the owner when trying to talk with them, they quickly threatened to kick me out if “I didn’t like it”. I told them that’s no way to treat patrons, and they replied “you expect we owe you something just because you bought drinks here”. Not professional and not a way to build a business.Reply:They definitely did. And It was Alex, who said they were the owner. And they said “must be nice to be a cis white man” in front of other customers and embarrassed me for several people to see. Right before they threatened to kick me out. I feel There’s no reason EVER bring up someone’s skin color or gender in a conversation, especially with a stranger. Maybe Alex only pushes the safe space thing for trans or black people?…. but it definitely seems clear that cis white straight people are at the bottom of their list. And As far as the beer prices go we were quoted the $3 price that same night.
Have wanted to come here for a long while and am thrilled we finally made it happen. As a bar with incredible vegan options to eat, it it surpassed expectations. Great location, great vibe, phenomenal food/drinks, and to top it all off, a calendar of numerous events for the community, this is a must try.
