It's hard to find a soul food restaurant that cooks chitterlings but cooks them extremely well!! I always have a hard time deciding between the chitterlings and oxtails because they're both so good!!

Working on the road you always try to find somewhere to go to get some home cooked food to give you a home feeling and Uncle Gene's definitely gave e me that and more. Hands down the food was delicious and I highly recommend this place for everyone that's looking for some good Ole southern cooked food.

The flavor was awful. I got oxtail over mashed potatoes. Very salty dish. I should’ve gotten rice. I did add hot sauce but you can literally see all the oil. The muffin was good. I paid $18 and couldn’t finish eating this. I’m going to McDonald’s.

Very clean( smelled wonderful), floors were very impressive (clean) the kitchen was spotless from my view down to the floorsMac and cheese was delicious, fresh food, yams could use a bit more sugar and less of the spices, cobbler was amazing. This is the soul food restaurant I've looked for. It took four years to find it!I ordered smothered turkey wings dinner with mac 'n cheese and collard greens with a cornbread muffin. The greens are cooked with smoked turkey not pork!!!!! PTL for Uncle Gene and his collard greens!!!!Even tried the bread pudding. Perfection!!! Thick and solid like bread pudding should be. It was not the fluffy light stuff that is usually found.Total was $23.11 OTD and I have enough for a second meal!Everything was clean, bathroom included. The gal behind the counter was great and getting the food was fast.Only five star review I've given in Jacksonville!
The food was good. It was just what it said soul food.I had oxtails with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were the star. We also had a slice of old fashioned butter pound cake. Delicious.
First I would like to say I wish I would've read the reviews before buying because I would've not been disappointed cause everything was just okay or slightly below. It could've been my selection as well. I had a taste for smothered turkey wings and googled restaurants in my area and this spot came up. Collard greens was decent, candied yams was not candied they tasted kinda bland and the turkey wings kinda bland as well and the cornbread muffin was a little tough. Probably won't visit again. Was really hoping I had found a gem for my soul food fix. Typically I go to shut'em down on San Juan which is more of a hit than miss I love their smothered pork chops. Customer service was great.
