Edit: it’s been years since I’ve been but their grilled cheese will always be one of my favorites I’ve ever had. Their food is just amazing.

Ive been seeing this place for a while so wanted to try it out. One of if not the best Diner in Jacksonville. The pancakes are fluffy, the omelettes are thick, and all the food tastes amazing. Its VERY filling, even for a single entree. The people there are hardworking and dont ignore you. Best of all tho...they are F A S T. IHOP you wait like 30 min even if its not busy. Ive been in there during peak on a Sunday....15 min dude. From the time I was seated. IHOP, Dennys, they cant compete. And only reason i spend 30$ is because i eat alot and i gotta give em the big tip.

This is the sign of a wonderful local diner. Diners like University Diner make big cities feel a little bit smaller and a little friendlier. Are you going to Instagram your plate? Probably not. Just put your phone away and enjoy it for what it is. Every time I come the same two wonderful ladies take care of me. They don't know my name yet because I haven't been enough, but hopefully that will change with time. Note that I've only ever been here for breakfast. So I can't speak to lunch food or atmosphere.
Kid-friendliness: They love kids here. Grandparents too.
I have always had a delightful time at the University Diner. The food is good, and the staff are kind, social, and very focused on making your breakfast meal a great way to start your day. If you're a local or visitor, check it out, and you'll have a nice time

BLT was terrible, cuban sandwich was OK. Fries are a hard pass. Service might be better if you are a local, but not good in my experience. Overpriced for what they offer.
