Garden City Cafe is a neighborhood eatery that serves good, better-than-average diner fare. The interior is cozy and clean, featuring some tropical kitsch, with relaxing music that is not too loud. The service, while decent, can sometimes be a bit disheveled during busy times. The chefs, including the owners who are often on-site, put passion into their cooking, resulting in amazing food. The cafe has a welcoming atmosphere, with live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and the staff treats customers like family. They cater to dietary restrictions and are kid-friendly, offering activities for younger guests. Recent visitors have praised the food and service, highlighting excellent breakfast and lunch options. The corned beef hash is noted as some of the best around, and the avocado toast with hashbrowns has also received high marks. The Philly Steak sandwich with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and melted provolone cheese remains a favorite. Some customers have mentioned that the cafe still uses old-fashioned methods, like writing orders on pads, and only accepts cash, which can be inconvenient. Despite these quirks, it is a cozy spot with locally sourced ingredients that is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area.
