The rueben sandwich - YES!

Great Philly Steak sandwich, mushrooms, peppers, onions with melted provolone cheese. Service outstanding and full menu of other dishes; especially breakfast items. I would highly recommend.

Great place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We were so happy to find a place with a tasty fresh food prepared with care. You have to try Della’s Romanian eggplant dip and delicious Goat cheese beet salad with amazing homemade dressing. Laura made our meal time so pleasant, so we came back again during our short three days vacation. Thank you for the tasty food and outstanding service.

We stumbled on this little gem today. Awesome food. Very diversified menu for all tastes. Fried chicken biscuit was delicious. Fresh and juicy. French fries are made fresh in house, not frozen. Prosciutto and arugula flatbread was delicious as well. And you must try Delia’s Romanian eggplant salad! We will definitely visit again.

The food here is great. The issue is the service. Every time I go here they are understaffed, I feel sorry for the server. It's so obvious that I keep thinking they surely will rectify the issue before my next visit. Went there yesterday for lunch and waited about 10 minutes with no acknowledgement from anybody before we finally gave up and left. Not as big of a deal on the weekends when I don't have to get back to work, but even then it's frustrating. I want to patronize small, locally-owned places like this but they make it really hard. Not sure I'll go back, just not worth the hassle.

If you walk into Garden City Cafe thinking, Maybe this is that sort of place that if Guy Fieri featured it on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, there would be a line out the door instead of empty seats. You'd probably be wrong thinking that, though, the power of suggestion notwithstanding. The food is probably 3.5 more than 4, but I'm averaging up because it's worth giving the place a try if you've driven by dozens of times and wondered what it was like. Don't expect the tourist-trap decor offered by so many other nearby places (although there is some tropical kitsch) and the interior is rather dark. At lunch time there may only be a single wait staff member, who may become a bit disheveled if an apparently unexpected number of people show up.The food is good (like better-than-average diner fare) and I've gone back, but this is more like a place for the neighborhood than a destination restaurant. I doubt many people drive more than a few miles to eat there. I am yet to encounter a happy employee, however. It's not that the service is bad, it's decent service, everyone just looks as if hoping they might get a better offer.
