If I could give this place no stars I would. I called ahead to reserve a table and was told we could just walk in and sit at the sushi bar. I specifically asked if they were open to the public and was told it would be no problem.We drove 30 min to the area to find a gate house and couldn’t get in. I called back to the restaurant and spoke to a manager and was told that this is an exclusive resort and there staff doesn’t know to ask if we are staying on the property. It should be noted on their website that this restaurant is private and cannot be accessed. Very very disappointed !!!! That’s ok. We found a much better restaurant that happily took our money and gave us better service than the Islander ever could have provided.

This is my favourite restaurant in the ORC by far. The sushi counter is most certainly the place the be, it’s always such a delight to watch the sushi chefs work away with their craft, they have a great vibe, can takes orders or whip up their own sushi creation that will blow your mind. Ashford never failed to disappoint, upon request he created the most incredible sushi plate made with bluefin tuna, a special concoction of his served party in half an orange, we coined this the ‘Ashford special’ do request this as you will not be disappointed. The staff are all great and very attentive. The restaurant always has a warm and buzzing environment.
Some of the best fish and sushi in all the Keys. Service is outstanding and the prices are not outrageous. They do serve a few Japanese sushi delicacies, which are naturally more expensive, but well well worth it. ?
