Tile Fish was cooked perfectly, and tasted devine. Lobster Bisque flavor was well balanced and amazing. Beet salad has a nice portion size and nice plating.

Very good gazpacho and two good burgers, friendly service. With a glass of wine and a beer we were at $100.

We had dinner here on NYE and it was lovely! Quiet atmosphere with outdoor seating and the service we received was so attentive, kind, and thoughtful from the host to our waiter and beyond. Our server was Nazer (spelling?) from Ukraine and he did a great job. Food was top notch. Would go back here in a heartbeat next time we are in the area!

This was my first time at Blackfin and while the food was overall OK, I have to say it was big let down and I probably won't be rushing back or recommending it to anyone.
Overall the quality of the food was decent. The prices were on the high to very high side, but that could be expected for the area. Our interactions, though, were a letdown from start to finish.
We tried to order a cocktail to start and were told wine and beer only, with a bit of an eyeball and annoyance. Then we tried to order two bottles on the menu but both were out so were finally pointed to one that was significantly more expensive. Starting off just seeming somewhat scammy.
The waiter was nice but seemed to be confused - never really knowing where in the service he was. We even were convinced to order the $90 stone crab appetizer (which was fine) but more antics of confusion interrupting the meal made for an unpleasant experience.
Entrees come and (to our absolute shock) the waiter tells us that he put the wrong entree in for one person in or party. He says it would take a long time to make what they actually ordered and then stared blankly at us. No further suggestions, just really deer-in-headlights. We eventually just ate the meal that no one ordered because we didn't want to be stuck there all night. The waiter moved on, as if that just took care of it. No acknowledgment from the manager (who may have been the annoyed one with the sketchy wine list, so maybe for the best?) or anything further.
The bill comes at the end and the (more expensive) incorrect entree is on it. At this point, we didn't really have any confidence in the competence of any of the staff, so we just paid the check and left.
Overall the food was fine but highly overpriced for incompetent and ungracious service in a "shabby chic" (think white linens over rickety old folding tables) restaurant. It's not a place I'll be letting them spend my money for me again anytime soon, and would suggest you avoid the same experience.

On a rainy evening we were able to get seated in the dining room @ Blackfin.
A Friday night with tables full and a busy bar.
As we had appetizers already we just opted for the main course.
The dining room is quite loud. Our waitress tried to tell the specials but her voice barely made it out above the crowd. Maybe a printed specials menu would be more helpful.
My girlfriends pasta (shrimp provencal) was excellent. Great flavors and the right size.
The Steak au poivre looked good.
Unfortunately the meat was with lots of muscle and fat parts. They could have cleaned and trimmed the meat better. Also the steak was more cooked on one side then the other. A miss in my opinion. The sauce was good.
The waitress was very keen to sell me some more wine. I was half way through the glass of red and she was hovering around trying to sell me another one.
We were not even finished with our meals and she put the check down. We didn't ask for it. We were both astonished.
So that's what they call dinner at Blackfin Bistro.
Rush job I would call it. And at best maybe a place to eat once, when it rains.

So believe it or not we were actually skeptical we went here on Christmas Eve. We sat down and the menu kind of looked complicated for us (we're simple eaters) We were almost about to leave but did not want to insult anybody or feel awkward. Let me tell you.... The food was freaking amazing It was the best meal we had and our entire 5-day stay eating at tons of different restaurants. He had the blackened chicken with yellow rice and asparagus. But my meal stole the show it was the seafood pasta I have never had flavors so good in my life. The waiter was absolutely a sweet as could be and made for good conversation. We joke about the only reason we want to go back to key West is so we can eat here again If I could give them 10 stars I would probably still ask to give them 20 😉 there is not a rating high enough for this restaurant I will be talking about this food for years to come and that is an honest down to earth review of this restaurant.

This was my second time eating at Black Fin and both times were exceptional. My server Bogdan was very friendly and attentive. Bolognese was so delicious no complaints. If you’re a cheese lover the croquettes are amazing, the honey drizzle with onions is a great combination. Mimosas are made with freshly squeezed OJ you could taste the difference.

We stopped by the Blackfin Bistro for lunch yesterday. We had the best seat in the house for people watching. I am gluten intolerant and they had plenty of options for me. We had calamari, escargot and mussels in blue cheese sauce. Gabor was great! Very knowledgeable, recommended a wonderful wine and he was so friendly. I highly recommend checking Blackfin out if you find yourself in Key West.

The BEST Octopus I’ve ever had and a generous portion for an appetizer. Followed by perfectly cooked tuna and delicious snapper. Fast, friendly and attentive service. I’d come back again if I find myself back in key west.
