Update!
The new bar options are fantastic. The mimosa was made with fresh juice and delicious. They've clearly been making updates to the restaurant and we love the changes.
We go every single year when we are in key west. The staff is kind and the food is amazing. Very reasonable prices and fast service. We sometimes go 3 times in a week and we will be back!

I used to go here every morning on my way to work at Oceanside Marina. The Special Breakfast cannot be beat for the price. As a degenerate in my early 20s, my standard operating procedure was to power my way through the day on 2 hours of sleep. My go-to menu item at El Mocho was 2 coladas. Yes, I would drink 2 coladas to the head and then go to work. If I had more time/money, I would stay for breakfast. The aforementioned breakfast deal was only $2.25 back in the early aughts. I just checked out the current menu, and that same breakfast today is still only $4.85 and everything else on the menu looks very reasonable in the Current Year. I hope that one day I can make it back down there to once more have breakfast and a con leche (no more coladas for me lol).

A popular local spot, some of the patrons seem to be there almost daily. Prices were more than fair, portions adequate, and REALLY good Cuban coffee. A good time, fast, and super friendly.

Can't recommend this place highly enough to any Brits on the Keys trail. Authentic Cuban cuisine with great service. Pork chops a-ma-zing!
We enjoyed breakfast at El Mocho recently. The coffee was sooo good. Hope to visit again someday.
Beware when paying that you will not be paying menu prices. Shady.
It was a pleasant surprise. Good food, good service, fair price.
