My wife and I had just finished our visit to Ft Zachary and decided to get a bite to eat. Mr. z's is located in an older building and has an archaic sports feel. There is not much seating area but we managed to find a spot to eat. I can say that we were greeted as we came through the door by three gentlemen prepping food behind the counter. We placed our order and decided to split a wedge salad and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The wedge salad was excellent, lots of flavor and no skimping on the side ingredients. The Philly cheesesteak was cheesy, meaty and delicious. What topped of the meal was being called by name and being asked in the middle of our meal as to how we felt about our meal. Next time no sharing sweetie! I would certainly go back when returning to Key West. If you're hungry for a filling bite certainly give them a try.

Best hot sandwiches in town, really good pizza. Guys behind the counter are always polite, professional, and helpful. No frills eating that shouldn’t be missed, check it out.

Thin, crispy crust, great tomato sauce and light cheese. Just the way I like my pizza. They sell by the slice which is really one forth of a large pizza.

1 star for the decent service. The pizza was pretty bad though to be honest. We paid an extra $1.75 for bell peppers and they sprinkled a few tiny chopped pieces on top... Definitely not worth it and I won't be coming back.

They have the best cheesesteaks in town. Wanting something a little different today so I had the guy make me a custom steak sandwich it was amazing!!!

I was in mr.z today and a employee dropped all the forks on the floor. The girl behind the counter picks them up and puts them back in the fork holder. I got up and threw the forks away but when I told the manager he just smiled. Dont eat there they are dirty and dont care about your health!

I have been going to mr. Z's for years. Never had a bad meal. The calzones and cheesesteaks are the best on the island

I'm not sure what is going on these days with Mr.Z's the quality I have had in the past did not manifest itself on my last trip. The pizza crust is really thin and the rolls they used for their sandwiches were of an inferior quality from previous purchases made at Mr.Z's

Burnt one of the pizzas and the other one, "their best pizza" tasted more like cardboard. Me showing up to pick up reminded them that there was a pizza still in the oven burning up and didn't have any cheese to make a new one. Will not return.

The family and I came to Mr. Z’s for an authentic Philadelphia style cheesesteak and were quite disappointed. I ordered my cheesesteak with whiz (like in philly) and they don’t carry it anymore...even though it’s on the menu. I ended up ordering it with American cheese and was even more disappointed when I took a bite. The bread was stale tasting and the steak was flavorless and chewy. My kids did say the pizza was good, so if we end up coming back, I’ll give the pizza a try. ‍♀️

The food was really good but by the time we got it, it was cold. We were told 45 minutes but our food didn't arrive until an hour and a half later. We also got our salad without any dressing. Based on the quality of food I would have eaten there again but not after the nightmare of this delivery.

Ate in one day and they just kept taking smoke breaks and completely forgot about our order. Terrible service. Also, it was just really unclean in there. All that time smoking... they really need to be mopping and wiping down the counters. Really bad. But if you want good pizza go to Mr. Z’s Old Town. They put the Newtown location to shame and I’m pretty sure they know it.

Came here with family on a trip to the Keys. Not sure if the man behind the counter was new (I’m hoping this was the issue) but he didn’t have a clue about their own menu. I tried ordering a cheese steak with whiz, when the man preparing the food said they ran out, the man behind the counter tried to get me to order it with melted American even I repeatedly told him no. Then my husband tried to order the sausage and pepper sandwich, the man behind the counter asked us if that was even on the menu. My friend ordered chicken wings and was told they didn’t have anymore but could get “creative” if she really wanted some. Not something I want to hear when ordering food. Finally, we got the pizza (the only thing they seemed to actually serve that was on the menu) and something definitely tasted stale. I wouldn’t recommend it. You’re better off going to the Domino's that’s in the same plaza.
