We have been to Key West multiple times in recent years and never had the chance to eat at Pepe's. We made reservations 2 months in advance on Open Table for our Thanksgiving dinner and it was a major disappointment. On arrival the hostess seemed baffled when we gave her our reservation. The outdoor seating area was full. Finally she looked at her clipboard and saw the reservation but did not know what to do. Finally, she asked a waiter and he told her to seat us at table 7 in the dark, dingy main room. Once seated, it was so dark we had to use our phones to read the menues. My water glass was filthy , we were in and out of the restaurant in 50 minutes. Mind you we had drinks, appetizers and entrees for 4 people. The food itself was so overly salted to be almost unpalateable. That was on several different mains. There were empty tables in the back room the entire time we were there , so a busy Thanksgiving was no excuse for the shoddy experience. Never again.
We had breakfast here and it was fabulous! The hostess is so personable and welcoming. Our server, Alan, was polite and kind and gave off that calming “Key West” vibe. I ordered an omelette with mushroom, spinach, and cheese and boy it was STUFFED! So very delicious!!!!will come again.
Last night we stopped in for dinner. Always crowded, but we got seats. Great waitstaff, they work their butts off! And always aim to please. We shared the baked stuffed oyster appetizer, so delicious and a nice start to the meal. I had the triple seafood special - yellowtail, shrimp and scallops, in delicious sauce. My husband had blackened pink shrimp. We had asparagus and baked sweet potatoes, but there are lots of choices for sides. Dessert was Key Lime pie and Red Velvet cake. Full part, great drinks, plenty of specials. Everything was amazing, the kitchen turns out the food quickly, and prices are fair. This place has been around for a very long time, tables and chair might be a little rickety, the roof might leak a little, but you will have great food and drinks.
We’ve gone to Pepe’s for breakfast for many years and have always had great meals. Tonight we went for dinner & it was awful! Our order was not correct, the baked potato was so cold the butter on top wouldn’t even melt, the service was really bad, and the cost almost $70. Will never go for dinner again and breakfast may be questionable.
Service was slow, food was bad and expensive. Get your touristy picture outside and keep walking to try a different restaurant!
Classic Key West Cafe! While you may come across dozens of breakfast spots in Old Town, Pepe's, the oldest restaurant in the Keys is a must visit. Serving a myriad of breakfast plates, this rustic restaurant has it all! Friendly service and delicious food made to order!! The homemade apple bread was on the specials menu, it's a must! You can ordered in in lieu of bread for breakfast items on the menu! I ordered the Pepe Steak Omelette with a side of the apple bread. One word: delicious!! My drink for the mourning was a Bloody Mary topped with asparagus tips and string beans! It was fabulous!! Pepe's is a must visit while in Key West!
Food was good , service good but so many fans running our food was all cold in a matter of minutes. We didn’t eat it all because it was cold! Every thing else was good just turn all those fans off or down.
I was told to come for the Keylime pie and I’m glad I did absolutely delicious! Great service and great venue! I did not have a meal but now wish I had after eating that pie !
Came highly recommended by locals but honestly! Was average. Salad was just chopped vegetables served with bits of steak. Not even asked of a temperature. Service staff were certainly not in a hurry. Would not go again.
Love Pepe's for a casual meal or cocktails. The food is always fresh, especially considering the only freezer they have is for their ice cream. I'm a sucker whatever their daily special is. Freshly squeezed juices make for the best margaritas, or any cocktail for that matter! We love Pepe's not only for it's food, but for their wonderful server's & bartenders - especially Kara who works mornings/afternoons Thurs-Sun! It's typically easy to get a table - lots of space for the bar.

Steak wasn’t cooked right, scallops were cooked right but had a chemical aftertaste. Nope not coming back.

The good and drinks were top notch. The best key lime martini on the island. Price is a little high but well worth it for the quality of the food and drink
Hit up Pepe’s after reading about its charm and old school area history… the morning was super monsoon type rain… somehow was able to get quickly seated at bar and was great in the midst of the kitchen bar action.. quick service for drinking d menus given.., would have given a 5 if not for the sticky bar top and menus… other than that all was great and the staff warm and fast to serve.. you can tell many locals come and even bring the pets in.. was a great experience and food didn’t disappoint… classic BLT, side of home fries and creamed chip beef.. perfect for the start of the day!!! Definitely a gem!!! Will be back!!!
I love Pepe’s - a classic spot in Key West!! Bartenders are always great. Get the Oysters. We always do!!! Just love it here!!
