Not the vibe. The staff are some of the rudest in town, and I’ve had multiple bad experiences, like many other reviewers. Last night during karaoke, I waited over 30 minutes to order a drink while the bartender chatted with coworkers, even though less than 10 people were standing at the bar. Live music is hit or miss too. Thanks, staff @ Rick’s—you make it easy to go elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and head to Sloppy Joe’s for better service and music.

DJ Shocka was atrocious. Did not take one single request. Fine. Understandable. However, he was rude and dismissive of the patrons that were trying to do something most people expect to do in an establishment like this. If you don’t take requests, politely let people know don’t be rude about it. He sucked.

Staff was extremely rude, we walked up unknowing what side was the entrance or exit and was absolutely screamed at an extremely disrespectful language coming from the bouncer at the front even though we could not move because there are people blocking our way he was extremely disrespectful to us absolutely terrible way to do business and will never be here again. Very unfortunate.

My worst experience in the US !
I came to this bar yesterday. We were a group of French girls and an American. After checking my ID the bouncer told me to go upstairs. I stayed to wait my friend behind me. He yell at me to go upstairs and I told him that I was waiting my friends. He started to yell that this is not the rules, that I had to do what he said. I started climbing up but I took a step back and I told him that I don’t appreciate that he yelled at me and that was unprofessional. He started getting mad and telling me to leave. I could see the kind of person he was so I haven’t replied. When I went upstairs he complained to his colleague “they come to America and they cannot even speak English.” I do speak English, I guess he couldn’t hear it because of his voice covering mine. That’s unfortunate for a touristic establishment. Inside it was empty, the staff looked bad at us and the music was bad so we left the bar.

First visit was great and the cocktails were made well but second visit ordered an old fashioned and was so sweet that we couldn’t even drink. When we spoke to the bartender he was adamant that this is how it is made and refused to remake it, I think we deserved the drink to be remade or a refund
The bartender was upset coz she had to work on Christmas Eve! She told us I have to open because you are all here:(

I would give 0 stars for Ricks if I could. One of the upstairs bartenders gave my credit card to a group of girls while I was literally standing right in front of him and the register.
I ordered a round of drinks for myself and my friends, got the drinks, and gave the bartender my card. He then proceeded to handle a dozen other customers before I finally was able to get his attention and ask to close out my tab. The bartender then tells me that I still need to pay, despite the fact that I’m showing him the notification on my phone that I was charged for the drinks already.
Confused, he starts digging through the massive ribbon of receipts that he didn’t organize, until he finally finds one with my name on it. It’s a massive tab over $200, none of which being the drinks I’d ordered. Turns out it was a group of girls he’d given my card to who ordered a ton of drinks and then left for another bar to see how many rounds they could get on my card.
He looks for 10 seconds to try and find it, then asks for me to just lock my card and give him an hour to see if it turns up.
Oh, and for that excellent work, he decided to forge my signature on the bill he eventually found and give himself a 30% tip.
Truly the worst service I’ve ever had at any bar or restaurant, and I’d never consider going back or recommending to anyone.

Echoing several other reviewers, my experience at Rick’s did not make it past the ID check as one particular bouncer made a spectacle of reviewing my Ohio real ID, likely assuming it was fake… it was not.. After being told I was the difficult person during the interaction and my friend was also denied access, that same bouncer proceeded to make a derogatory and sexist comment under his breath. I strongly do not recommend Rick’s as a bar to visit. There are many other bars General Horseplay, Mangoes, White Tarpon to name a few where you will have a fantastic Key West experience.

A bouncer tried to fight my son for no reason at all, then stood on Duval cursing and calling names. When my son and his friend tried to leave they threatened to jump them while following them to the corner physically pushing them and one actually slapped my son. My son and his friend are Navy bound, true patriots! They turned the other cheek and did not fall into the aggressive actions of the Rick’s Employees. It literally took my son’s friend exposing that he was carrying for them to back down. This was only done after they were followed, pushed and physically assaulted. These employees are a liability to this bar and will get the owners sued at some point.
