We booked a night here in a savannah view room . The room was great , very spacious , very clean with a balcony with a stunning view of the Arusha savannah . We saw so many animals - giraffe , zebra , wildebeest , gazelle , pelicans , ostrich and a variety of birds . It truly was perfect. We used the quick service for breakfast so we could enjoy it on our balcony and this was perfect . I hope we can stay for longer in the future .
We stayed here with family and friends. overall our experience was excellent. It was great to wake up, draw back the curtains and see Girraffs wilderbeasts, Zebras plus other animals and birds just a few yards away. As you would expect from Disney, the staff were all friendly and helpful. There were a things that could be improved though. The quick service cafe had limited choice and often ran out of certain foods. Plus the housekeeping could have been better. Although I do not blame the housekeeping staff as they did not have enough people to do a decent job with the time allowed.
Barbara is a joke calls herself a director the place is filthy the shower fell off the wall and damaged my little girls toe they left me and my kids stranded at magic kingdom the bus never showed and she said not her problem took my taxi receipt off me and said no sorry no one else complained the bus didn't show no bus turned at 10:30pm and I had the bus manager confirm it stay away from the hotel the staff are rude nasty and liars
Where to begin. This is undoubtedly the worst place I’ve ever stayed. My daughter booked a Disney trip for the family. She was then contacted by Disney to offer her Animal Kingdom Lodge as an upgrade. I believe this is purely a marketing strategy to fill the hotel. No one with any standards for cleanliness, comfort and value would voluntarily stay here. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND the wonderful reviews. The building ( Jambu) is worn and in need of updating. The dirt everywhere is unreal. Hallway carpets are dirty and stained. The molding along the floor is covered in dust. Our rooms were not thoroughly cleaned all week. They come in occasionally to empty trash and leave a few towels. We found fingerprints and stains on mirrors and glass doors that remained all week. Linens weren’t changed at all. On our second day the bed was not even made. The bedding is comprised of 2 thin sheets with a thin blanket in between, yet the room remains mysteriously cold no matter what the temp is set to. We all froze! In 2 different rooms. Other guests stated the same. The food offerings at the main restaurant are seriously overpriced, low quality and limited. The grandchildren literally ate nothing. I understand it’s a “themed venue” but at least offer some neutral foods that are tasty. The school cafeteria food rates much higher than this. Just awful! The meals are served buffet style with no safety precautions other than hand sanitizer dispensers which no one used. The quick option eatery poolside is also limited, and low quality. None of the tables at the eateries were especially clean. The main pool was overcrowded and the water very cloudy. I didn’t feel comfortable to use it. As a result during days of constant heat advisories I did not avail myself of the pool as I would have liked. Last year we stayed at the Coronado Towers. There is absolutely no comparison. All of the staff except the front staff were friendly and work hard. I don’t blame them. It’s management and Disneys fault. We would never stay here again and would strongly advise others to stay elsewhere.
Absolutely stunning hotel beautiful rooms and awesome views of the beautiful African wildlife! Highly recommend this gorgeous hotel as well as the restaurants in this hotel we ate at two of them one being the buffet which I typically do not do, and it was fantastic The food was fantastic The service was fantastic and so was the other restaurant which was Indian food I can't say enough about the restaurants the food in the hotel. I will definitely be back!
My daughter and I had a great stay at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. I have previously stayed at Art of Animation, Pop Century, Coronado Springs, and Beach Club. I will use those for comparison purposes. First of all, the most amazing thing about this place is the Savannah. Being able to look out your window and see an African safari is breathtaking. I did pay extra for the Savannah view. Our room was at the very end of the hall in Jambo House on the Zebra trail - the very very end and our balcony looked at a side fence. I was disappointed at first, but the animals definitely still visited our nook and our room was so quiet. For our purposes, I think a standard view room would have been just fine as there are so many windows and sitting places to get to see the animals throughout the lodge. With it being August and so incredibly hot outside, we didn't spend much time on the balcony. The room was large and beds were comfy. We slept well. There were some amenities that weren't in the value resorts that were a nice touch like a Keurig with lots of K-cups, full bottles of shampoo/conditioner/lotion, lots of closet space, tons of pillows, a makeup mirror and a hand steamer. As a small FYI - my daughter has curly, dryer hair and the shampoo/conditioner didn't work well for her type of hair. The lobby and decor are amazing. We only ate at Mara and Sanaa over at Kidani. Mara was pretty typical for quick service, and Sanaa was delicious - get the bread service there. The pool was nice but HOT in August. It is large with a small slide. There are plenty of sun and shaded areas, and the pool chairs are cushioned. For comparison purposes, the pool at Beach Club was much more fun with the lazy river, sand and more thrilling slide. But we spent the majority of our time at the parks and getting to see the Savannah at AK more than made up for the difference personally. We used the bus service to the parks every day but one when we took a Lyft to/from the H20 Glow Nights event at Typhoon Lagoon - for Typhoon Lagoon, you have to transfer buses at Disney Springs to get over there from AK Lodge and I didn't want to have to mess with that. The buses overall worked great for us. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus, and the ones serving this resort were dedicated to it and Kidani alone. We only had to stand on a full bus the last night coming from Magic Kingdom but that was right after the fireworks and the buses were all packed (but still moving quickly). Compared to buses at other resorts I've stayed at, this one ran the smoothest and quickest by far. I'm glad I didn't let the distance/transportation concerns of other guests scare me off. My only suggestion on the buses is to change the naming of the buses to "AK Lodge - Jambo House" and "AK Lodge - Kidani Village" or something like that as we had so many people get on the bus that wanted to go to the Animal Kingdom Park - not the lodge. That happened daily and was confusing and time-consuming for guests. Checking in/out was super easy - I got a message stating what room we had and our magic bands were working as our key when we arrived. I also tested opening the door with the mobile app on my phone and it worked as well. I stopped by the lobby desk to get a "Happy Birthday" pin for my daughter, and they were very helpful and kind. We didn't meet a single cast member who wasn't friendly. All in all, it was a great stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge!
Awesome resort! Clean and quiet and unique. Loved it here. Trip review wants me to write more. If you are thinking of staying here do it! So much to see and do. Beautiful animals and comfy beds.
We stayed here as a family of ten for 14 nights. It was our first time here and we had 4 Savannah view rooms. Our check in was fab and so easy after we’d had a delayed flight and didn’t arrive until 12am. The animals on the Arusha Savannah were giraffes, zebras, wildebeasts, pelicans and there were others too! It did not disappoint in terms of the view- we would all definitely recommend the Savannah view rooms for anyone sitting on the fence with what to book. We have been to Disney quite a few times before but usually stay in a moderate resort. This is our first time in a deluxe. We would say that apart from the animals though, it isn’t set apart that much from a moderate resort. The animals are what make the hotel and although they are beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed them, it is a lot of money overall for the perks of this. The staff have all been very friendly and we ate quite a bit in the quick service restaurant as we are very much park lovers and like to be there as much as possible. Most staff were pleasant and were very helpful (one even went on a search for a breakfast cereal for my daughter) but it did seem that a few looked unhappy or irritated to have to deal with customers. The hotel lobby was beautiful and such a gorgeous aroma each time you walked in. It certainly felt like home. The shop was always a delight to visit too. In terms of housekeeping, I believe they have done the best they can and we always made sure we left a good tip but Disney certainly need to sort out this situation as it seems that they need to hire more staff and not just expect the existing staff to ‘do more’. This will certainly lead to unhappy staff and the quality to decline (as it has already). We had to ask for shampoo to be topped up as there was any left in the bottles, new toilet paper, one day our room hadn’t even been made up at all and on our check out day, the staff were knocking on our door at 8am to clean when check out isn’t even until 11! All of our four rooms also commented how noisy people were in the hotel and whilst we totally understand that people are out late and up early, the amount of noise was quite ridiculous! People were out on balconies at 3am letting their children make huge amounts of noise, children were running up and down the corridors at all hours and the noise from the corridors can certainly be heard easily from your room (and we were near the end of the zebra trail). The balcony doors were opening and closing from rooms to the side and above and each time people did this, it could be heard. The noise that got me the most was the flushing of the toilets though! This was constant from the rooms next to and above..surely there’s a way that a ‘deluxe’ hotel can find a way for guests to not hear every toilet flush. The pools have been so refreshing and our children have loved them! We managed to go in both the kidani village and jambo house pools and the zebra domes were just a beautiful touch whilst enjoying a quick sunbathe. In terms of the buses, we never had a problem at all! It ran very smoothly and our only wish is that they dropped off at Jambo house first instead of Kidani village as this saved 5 minutes on each journey but it wasn’t something that we would say was a problem at all. Overall we have had a good stay and have enjoyed our time together and the experience of Animal Kingdom Lodge but next time we may try a different deluxe or even back to a moderate.
We stayed in a DVC one bedroom club level room on our most recent trip. We were lucky to get a savanna view room and depending on the time of day, we saw giraffes, cattle and some ostriches, who would lay eggs just outside the room. The club level staff went out of their way to make out stay enjoyable and memorable. Glenn the club level manager in particular helped to smooth out some check-in related issues. The entire four days of our stay, we received excellent service by all the club level staff. Huge shout out to Francisco who made sure I had a specialty cocktail each evening. Francisco was extremely kind and helped make our anniversary super memorable by surprising us with giant pina coloda for two, an anniversary table sign and showing me how to use the nespresso machine to make my morning latte. Highly recommend the club level if you are celebrating a special occasion and want to feel pampered.
Hotel is beautiful both inside and outside. Lots of great spots to sit and relax around the lodge and outside to take in the scenery. We were fortunate to stay in a room looking at the giraffes and they kept us entertained quite a bit! The on-site restaurant is amazing, definitely go there as well!

Stayed at Club Level in Jambi House on DVC points The lobby is impressive, as are the savannahs and the beautiful wildlife, zebras, giraffes, emus, cattle and deer to name but a few. This resort suits all ages, there is a large pool, plenty of seating, a quick service restaurant and two amazing restaurants at Jambi House plus another at the adjoining Kidani Village. The food is fabulous! Some people have commented negatively about the dark decor in the hotel, this is in keeping with the African theming and a welcome contrast to the brightness outdoors, There are campfires with s’mores, movies under the stars and pool activities to keep guest’s entertained, staff are friendly and welcoming. Now for the club level lounge. The breakfast food is a good start to the day, lots of fruit, mini muffins, cereal, yogurt, smoked salmon, cold boiled eggs, hot options such as bacon, bobotie which is like quiche, oatmeal and usually another hot dish such as bread and butter pudding! Lots of juices, teas, coffees, milk ets. Mimosas are offered to guests, more about this later! In the afternoon there are snacks and drinks, cookies, trail mix, chips etc. From 5-7 there are small plates, some hot options from Boma and Jiko plus pasta, salad, fruit, cheeses, cold meats and speciality bread. Ice creams are stocked in the freezer. Wine and beers are also available, the fridge is always stocked with sodas. From 8-10 liqueurs and small desserts are on offer. My only problem in the lounge was the lack of attention to detail, staff were strolling around while there were tables that needed clearing, empty food platters that needed to be refreshed, no bowls or plates on two occasions at breakfast and cutlery running low. Guests should not have to ask for the basics while staff are offering and preparing mimosas or stood around chatting! The service in club level just wasn’t up to par on this visit so they have lost one star but the hotel is fantastic and I would highly recommend a stay at AKL!
I’ve stayed here several times before and the service was always impeccable! Now it’s barely a roadside motel. Bartenders and restaurant staff are great, but dealing with front desk is a nightmare. Hopefully you won’t have any problems! I can deal with not even having a bottle of water in our rooms. Even the shocking food and beverage prices aren’t annoying. I can deal with my magic band not working and no one capable of fixing it. But when our flight was delayed 3x and eventually cancelled in the late afternoon and we had to spend an extra night, they wouldn’t help with getting us a pass to just see the fireworks at any park. We weren’t asking for a day pass, or even a 1/2 day pass- just an hour!!! We spent the whole day on the phone with the airline (and AKL was aware of our issue) & thinking we were finally getting out of Orlando at 9pm, we made a 6pm dinner reservation at the resort, only to find out at 4pm that the flight was cancelled. You’d think they’d help us out with a simple request. At best dinner would be over at 7 and by the time we got to any park it would be just in time for the fireworks. But we were told to go stand on the boardwalk bridge and watch from there. For free. Insulting! After spending as much as we did for 2 rooms for 5 nights, I laughed! They got our money, no reason to be kind now. Done with Disney!
Not the best resort in Orlando The room was a good 10 minute walk from the reception The room was another 10 minute walk from our room Carpet was worn in corridors from reception to our room Not a very good resort at all On the good side the beds are very comfortable Not worth the money
Beautiful Resort. Giraffes, wild birds and oxen- like animals outside our balcony daily. Large, beautiful bathroom, fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer in room. Allergy friendly restaurants with large selection and delicious food.
This was the most amazing experience we’ve had at any hotel. Hubby and I spent 10 days in a savannah room here. The only bad thing we could say is that we loved it so much we want to return and don’t know when we’ll be able to again. ($$$$) There were always animals to watch from our patio, and we also found many nice lookouts in other areas of the hotel with animal caretakers to talk to about the animals. We enjoyed the flamingo lagoon and the giraffes the most. Logistically, lots of food onsite including reasonable prices at the quick service The Mara. Inside laundry machines was easy to use and could run a load while having a bite. Big pool area and nice hot tubs too. Good quality daily housekeeping was appreciated. Transportation to parks was ok but inconsistent and unreliable so we took Uber to parks several times when we just missed a bus.
