We visited for breakfast as a family of four and ordered the chicken and waffles. My son ate some of the chicken skin but didn’t like it and set it aside. I took a bite to check it and immediately noticed it smelled and tasted spoiled.
I brought it to the manager, Mikayla, and she personally smelled it and agreed that it was indeed rotten. The chicken was fried and appeared very dark, possibly from overly used oil, which may have initially masked the issue.
This was extremely concerning, especially since my child had already eaten part of it. Food safety should never be compromised. Unfortunately, this is not the first time we’ve noticed concerns with the chicken. A couple of years ago when we dined in and ordered the same item, the chicken was also unusually dark, likely due to the oil quality.
Given that management acknowledged the issue, I expect this to be taken seriously and addressed immediately. Proper food storage, handling, and oil maintenance are critical to customer safety. If any of my family members become ill, we will be reporting this to the appropriate health authorities.
We are currently monitoring our family for symptoms.

Kaylie was so kind, I wanted to pay for a gentleman who was eating alone on Valentine’s Day & was told that the manager beat me too it. I was able to thank them both for sharing a little love for those who are alone in this world. Thank u again Katie & Manager.

I'm always excited to share my wife's and myself experience at a restaurant. Here we have a very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. It goes without mention that the staff, chefs, and owners are extremely experienced and very well trained. Our meals were prepared to perfection, at the correct temperature, and completely satisfying. The menu is well balanced, within budget, and not confusing. Table service (John) is excellent! Altogether bravo! Job well done.

My Craft Plug
My family and I go to Metro Diner almost every weekend, and it’s become our go-to breakfast spot. We got tired of the long waits at IHOP and other big chain restaurants, so we decided to focus more on local breakfast places and we are so glad we found this one. They’re usually packed, which says a lot, but the wait is totally reasonable (about 10–15 minutes) and absolutely worth it. The chicken and waffles are amazing, and their seasonal options are always so creative and delicious. Consistently great food, great vibes, and worth every visit
