This location is closed even though open table shows it open and able to book a reservation. Not sure how recent the closure but restaurant still had the bar area setup with bottles.
Would not go back. Restaurant empty despite many other restaurants around it packed. Limited menu and service was horrible. People seated after us got spoken to before us, server walked by us three times before speaking to us and was looking out the window while speaking to us. There were three occupied tables in our area, including us and it took 15 mins to get anyone to come to our table. He really didn't look he wanted to be there. Then I asked for a Blue Moon and he said they were out of Blue Moon and some other beers. Looks like a lack of management attention.
I have been to this Dexter's several times and this time the service and food/beverages were below par. They were out of a lot of food and drinks and the service was really slow. I am hoping it was a temporary issue that gets corrected to the normal Dexter's I'm used to.
Great menu with diverse choices and venue with big bar and outdoor seating. I frequently get lunch at the bar and always have good experiences. Austie and the rest of the bar crew are awesome! Decent happy hour includes $2 off all drinks.
Went for dinner on a Saturday. The place wasn’t at all busy which I thought was strange. The service was sooooo slow considering it wasn’t busy. They were out of the white wine that was on the menu. The food was fine. Went back again on Monday for appetizers before a movie. They were still out of the white wine. We were also informed that the kitchen closes at 7:00 on Monday’s (um, where is this info on your website) but if we hurried we could get in an order. We got 2 appetizers, but were told after we ordered that they were out of one of them. Dexters has really gone downhill from what it used to be.
This place has changed for the worse. There was a smell when we walked in - hubby said it smelled like urinal cakes. He also said the men's room was even worse. The menu has a lot fewer options now. My fave - the blackened chicken and shrimp salad - was not what it used to be. My chicken was dry and the old house made dressing is gone. Another in our party ordered the same and didn't even eat hers . The buffalo chicken sandwich had that weird texture when it's just barely cooked. The service was good, but unfortunately, we won't be going back.
Restaurant almost empty yet service was dire. Food was ok, some meals missed items like avocado, cheese etc. When we asked where it was, was told none left .... Pita bread was stale, before we complained, the waiter acknowledged .... Disgusting. When i asked for water, i got it, but it wasn't offered to the rest of our 9 person party. What is wrong with the place?... haven't been for 5 years because of lousy experience back then. Nothing has changed. Crummy service, meh food and lots of excuses. Shame on you Dexters. Won't be coming back again
Sadly this is the last time I’ll be going to Dexter’s. I mostly went for the Cha Cha Chips but were told they were out. The orange juice tasted weird, almost like it went bad. My eggs benedict came out with approximately 5 breakfast potatoes that were hard. My sister ordered the salmon tacos and they were bland with no seasoning. The bill was 50 dollars and definitely not worth it. So disappointing!
Our brunch on Sunday, July 23, 2023, was a terrible experience down to every detail. The waitstaff was on the ball this today ... leaving us with menus and forgetting to tell us the items they were out of. This left us with our second choice and the plates when they came were sloppy and skimpy. My son had the breakfast bowl and it was a very small portion not like the other pictures. My husband asked for mustard and they did not have mustard for his sandwich. The worst part of the brunch was that we sat next to three women who were drunk and continually used the "F" word in their conversation. The place was so loud you could not get away from their foul language. Why would staff or management not address this issue in their "fine dining" establishment. Needles to say you could not pay us to go back there.
Went for brunch. Service was good... Chicken and biscuits we

The service was so slow, I think our waiter forgot about us. The drink I ordered came in a glass half full and it had lipstick stains on it. My partners fries were undercooked. Overall, it was just an unpleasant experience. It's unfortunate that we spent $50 on meals that were barely consumed.
We've been going to the Dexter's chain for over 30 years and had a wonderful dinner last night at the one in Lake Mary. Glad they're keeping the traditions up: Loved the Smith Salad.
Confirm your reservation table!! Made an indoor reservation 1 week in advance for 6 PM on Saturday (yesterday). When our party of 4 arrived at 6 the hostess took us to a high top by a sunny window in the bar. When I asked for a regular table in dining room she said fine but we'd have to be out by 7. She did not apologize - just gave a blank stare (young blond) as if saying with rolled eyes - "do you want the high-top or not" - no words. She acted like she did not want to be working. We left - I'm sure Dexter's is a busy place and will survive without us. I will not hesitate, however, to dissuade people away from this Restaurant. The Winter Park location is much better and they act like they want your business. You should let people know what table and location you are reserving if you plan to sit people at the bar.
We originally sought out this place as kind of a joke because we have a dog named Dexter. We ended up falling in love with it because the drinks, food, service, atmosphere, everything is just awesome! The best calamari we've ever had (we try the calamari everywhere we go) and everything else we've ever tried has been delicious!
Bottomless mimosas were not an option because they didn't have enough champagne according to the bartender. Also very bitter and dry mimosas - I tried the peach, pineapple, mango and raspberry. Somehow the raspberry one was the best. Not sweet at all. Food was pretty good, probably the only thing the place has going for it.
