My youngest daughter has been begging me to come here with her for the past couple years. I did so tonight. The atmosphere is much like any divey bar you can imagine. People are very friendly and civilized. The bartender Esther was really very pleasant and sweet. It's a very comfortable hang out in my opinion.I tried the kava per my daughters suggestion, as I have never had it before. It has a thick earthy flavor, and I brighten it with a little Stevia and lemon. I experienced the tingly numb sensation on the tongue that I have been advised happens with consuming kava. I've had no ill or adverse effects. I consider this a unique experience and I enjoyed my time there. I probably will be back if my daughter asks me to go with her. But I doubt I will make it a habit.

I have always loved the laid back, artsy atmosphere of Lake Ave. I wanted some Kava but when I walked up, I noticed a giant cardboard cut out of Ron DeSantis in the window. What a great way to deter business. I won't step foot in there now.

If you’re black, this spot isn’t for you. Spend your money somewhere else. Guy behind the bar was being rude to someone at first and speaking about it loud enough for us to hear it. Not sure who the anger was geared towards but eventually it was towards me and the other person I was with. We were having a good time but it made us feel uncomfortable as the young lady behind the bar (who appeared to be a POC) thought his nasty comments were funny. I immediately cashed out and left. There aren’t a shortage of kava spots around here, go some place else.
