The place is sweet & low key but more ambience than anything around here. The food is amazing- wonderful and fresh flavors and excellent food quality. The owners are a husband /wife team and they strive to make it a great experience for you! Friendly & delicious and not too crowded or noisy! Highly recommend ?

This is a quiet little place off the main drag in Largo run by a husband and wife team (Linus & Yvonne), Swiss expatriates. Our party of 4 were greeted a half hour before our reservation by Yvonne herself at the front door. The cuisine is decidedly & competently French. Our party enjoyed Duck L'Orange, the Red Grouper, Filet Mignon with Peppercorn Sauce. This is one of the highest rated restaurants in the area. Service was personal and atmosphere quaint & intimate.

Our party of 4 were greeted at the door of this quaint little place off the main drag in Largo by Yvonne Rickenbach, one of the owners. She was our hostess for the evening. She and her husband, Chef Linus, run this very intimate bistro that feels more like you are guests in their home. They arrived in the US from Lucerne, Switzerland a few years ago and established this wonderful French restaurant on the gulf coast. They offered a fairly wide selection of wines and wonderful bread to start. Chef Linus personally served the bread, entrees & desserts accompanied by brief descriptions of each. Dining commenced with Escargot & salads, followed by entrees of Duck L'Orange and Grouper. My wife claimed it to be the best Grouper dish she'd ever had. The Duck was succulent served with Hericot Verts and freshly made noodles. One of our party had the Filet and was VERY pleased with his meal. Desserts included Raspberry Sorbet for our dairy challenged friend, Glacé Au Cafe Suisse for our Coffee Hound and the Wife and I shared the Mille feuilles avec crème vanille de Madagascar...all “tres délicieux!” This is not the place for those on a tight budget but well worth the price. If you want a remarkable, old world dining experience, it is the place to be in the Tampa Bay region!

You do not have to order a six course meal with paired wines to enjoy the food at Cafe Largo. Hostess Yvonne will graciously, courteously and patiently answer all your questions and help you choose specific items. All items we ordered were prepared by Chef Linus and were superb. Especially notable were the riesling soup with a subtle wine aftertaste, and the veal chop in champagne sauce!

We went to Cafe Largo for the third time on Valentine’s Day. Again, everything was perfect. Chef Linus prepared absolutely delicious grouper for the entre. He came out later and greeted everyone individually. Appetizer was a homemade terrine with morels and a celery salad. Desert was Bavarian cream and an apple “packet.” Seating is limited and the service from Yvonne, who is charming was the best. It’s a little out of the way but it remains our favorite restaurant in the Tampa Bay Area.

We have had two lovely dinners at Cafe Largo this winter. It's expensive (honestly what isn't now) but worth it for a dependable fine dining experience. I can recommend the beef filet, escargot, beet appetizer, lamb, and scallops.

If looking for rude, slow service with bland flavorless food then you have come to the right place. This is coming from someone that frequents French cuisine. This was third French restaurant have been to in last month. My fiancé took me for my birthday. This is after I took her to Cafe Belgium for her birthday. Few weeks prior went to Parts of Paris Bistro. Both were amazing with knowledgable friendly prompt and attentive wait staff. The food was everything one would expect from French cuisine prepared slowly and with flavorful rich seasoning. The escargot at Parts of Paris and lamb chops were divine. At Cafe Bistro the staff had a birthday card waiting on the table upon our arrival and that was the start of an amazing evening. Both locations were beautiful, no tacky furniture or cracked ceiling tiles.

French cuisine is suppose to be made with time, precision, and quality ingredients. This was not that. The food was under seasoned, all of it. I see why all the blue hairs like this place, they can't taste it. The waitress was Horrible! She could have not been more rude. Skip this place not worth the time it takes to get a glass of water. Speaking on water, when you accidentally put your hand all over the rim of someone's glass in America you change the glass. It's gross.

First time visiting Cafe Largo after discovering this gem and reading the positive reviews. We arrived at 630 it wasn't busy but by the time we left all the tables were full. Easy to see why, eatery was taken over recently by a nice couple who are very attentive. While the menu is a bit limited, we really enjoyed the choices available. Fish and Beef Stroganoff were tasty, wine and beer is available. Chef introduces himself to customers. Great small quiet place to enjoy a romantic dinner or time with friends and family.

Still Excellent After all These YearsFour of us enjoyed an excellent meal at Café Largo. It was Wednesday and the place only had a couple of other tables full—one was a large birthday party. The restaurant is clean and inviting. Our server, the wife of the couple that owns the place, was very sweet and helpful. The food was all delicious. We shared an order of the appetizer scallops and the foie gras. For mains we had a fantastic veal chop and delicious lamb chops and a couple branzino. For dessert we enjoyed the chocolate mousse, the ice caffe glace and their homemade ice cream--all wonderful. It’s nice to have an option for some excellent wines. The Margaux was very good, but the Pomerol was even better.Café Largo is an excellent choice for any kind of special event dinner. I hope it won’t be too long until our next visit.
